I'm pretty sure I read that the tax and tip were included for the sit-down dinners.

Does anyone tip extra? I say yes, DH says No, unless we order extras like alcohol etc.

Anyway, do the waitstaff, get 15%, 20%. We are usually pretty fair, and generous tippers. Seems like the servers could lose out by the dining plans. :guilty:

When we used the Candlelight Processional package with tip included, I tipped extra if the service was exceptional and they went out of their way.

If I remember correctly (this is with the Silver/Gold/Plat plans - tax and tip was included with these), it was 15% most places, but 18% at some like PSB and maybe 20% at V&A's. We tipped extra when we wanted, when the service was sub-par we didn't tip any extra. I doubt that the servers would lose out - with the dining plans I think people tend to spend more "$" than if they went without a plan (you get appetizer, dinner, and dessert remember) so their tip will be higher. However with that said I'm sure that your servers wouldn't mind a little extra;) HTH!

I have no idea, this is just a guess, but I bet the servers don't get a larger tip based on what you order. I suspect the MYW meal is considered like a prix fixe and they get a set tip amount whether you order a lot or a little.

I would be very surprised if that were so. I suspect it's more like the vouchers of the past. They get tipped on the total, which is why they are so helpful to help you spend up the bill.

Odd, because the price of appetizer, entree, dessert and beverage at some sit-down restaurants would be more than the cost of the 'Plan" for the day, then Disney would give the server another 15% of the total...no WONDER they are charging rack rate only for the meal plan rooms. If they can get an extra $50 or $60 (or more) for the room, that offsets the loss.

There is an 18% tip on the total of the meal, included in the package. (or at least that's how it worked last year!)

We dined at a Disney restaurant about 2 weeks ago, and with the discount we received they added the gratuity in. Disney now adds 18% gratuity to parties of 8 or more, or if there is a discount involved. Otherwise, tipping is at your discretion. We normally tip 20% anyway, so it was no problem for us.
