Just wondering how other people tip when they split a meal? We eat out a lot here at home and have really gotten into the idea of splitting meals. It is almost always enough and if not we just get a dessert! So do you still tip on the amount of the bill or do you add extra because two of you are sharing one meal? We often use coupons too and always tip on the amount before the discount but are not sure if we are tipping correctly when we split. Most of the time they just bring an extra plate and we split ourselves, unlike at WDW where they often divide it in the kitchen and really give you both more that the original amount. So what do the rest of splitters do?

So DW and I often split meals,we tip on the dollar amount if we both had full meals,so if our meal cost is $30 I just double to $60 and tip on that amount.::yes:: :wave2:

Nope I am a schmuck. I base the tip on what was purchased befor any discounts. That tip starts at 15 percent if the service was good it goes to 20........if the service was poor it goes to 10. If the server was excellent then it is over 20 based on the servers great service. This is my standard for all, reguardless if I am sharing or just getting a dessert.
