Tipping the pharmacy delivery guy......

My thyroid medication is out of stock everywhere I have called. I finally found a place today that has it in but they are 25 minutes away. No biggie, I need the medication.

The guy informs me that they offer free delivery! So tomorrow they will deliver my prescription. How much would you tip? The prescription only cost $5. Any suggestions?

i think a couple dollars is fine. your bill is only five. not sure what they would expect. the issue is that if you plan to utilize this service in the future , as you get older your money will be tighter. you want to be careful that you don't set a precedent in overtipping that leads to increased expectations/entitlements, all that kind of yucky stuff !

you could give a dollar consistently and give a small gift card at the holiday as you would for the postman.

I used to be a pharmacy delivery GIRL and usually, I got no tip what so ever. It really sucked, and I wasn't delivering to the poor side of town. I was delivering to Bruce Springstean, Bon Jovi, and their rich neighbors. Some would tip every once in a while, but nothing ever consistantly. I even got attacked by one customers dogs. The next time I delivered to them, they told me to look in the mailbox because there was something in there for me. It was a dog bone. Tip.

I would probably tip at least what you would have spent in gas. So a 50 minute drive (round trip)..you probably would have spent about $4 in gas I would imagine. So $4-$5.
