Tipping Drivers from the airport?

How much do you usually tip your towncar driver to and from the airport? Just wondering I want to have everything ready when we get off the plane.

Thanks, Disney Dianne

I usually do 20%, which on a towncar is $10 each way. If you have a limo, that would be more.

Remember to tip each driver separately, since it is never a garuntee that you will have the same driver on the way home.

One thing that I have found handy is to program the company's name into my phone, so in case you miss a connection (I have yet to make one in the past 2 years, despite leaving 2 hours in between flights) you can call and let them know exactly what flight you are on. Also, it woud be easier than trying to dig through your bag to find the confirmation slips to get the number to call.

I am so glad I read this! I kept thinking that I was going to tip 20% of the total for EACH driver. Duh!!

Thanks!

Hi Frstimer128. Did you enjoy your stay at the Pop? I'll be staying there in Dec. Any recommendations re: best view rooms, things to try at the food court.
I hope you enjoyed your trip!

Thank you,
Roseann

Hi, Roseann,

Usually the Mears shuttle van/bus drivers are tipped about $1 per bag.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and lots of choices of views and locations at the POP. Have you looked through the POP FAQs DIS board? Also check out this link and see what location appeals to you:

Might take a minute or so to download.

I liked the 50's building with an Illuminations view, but do not think I would want to stay there alone. I would ask for 50's, Tramp or Lady, facing pool area although close to the food court building. Less distance to walk alone at night.

Hope this helps! Lake views are pretty but a longer walk.

Christine

Hi Rosann!
I had the most incredible time! We stayed in the 50's in the jukebox building. I was on the 4th floor facing the pool. I think it was room 2463. It was so quiet! I wanted a top floor because I did not want to hear the foot traffic of the lower floors.

The rooms were pretty small but it was just me and my DD4 so there was plenty of room for just the 2 of us. I think if you had four people, it might feel a little tight. I had no complaints at all about the noise. A couple of times there were kids playing in the pool at a late hour but we were both so exhausted by the time we got back to our room that we had no trouble falling asleep. Housekeeping was wonderful although we got no towel animals. We did get a couple of window decorations though. I will try and paste those pics but I din't know if I'll get it right. We'll see.

I don't know how to post pics.....

Our pool was heated which was nice when we went swimming in the evening but it was not refreshing during the day so we went to the 60's pool which is considerably cooler. It also has a kiddie pool and pop jets nearby that my DD4 loved.

As far as location from the main building, our room was the furthest but it was not a bad walk at all. The only time I had a hard time was when we came back after the Halloween Party at midnight. My DD fell asleep on the bus so I had to carry her all the way from the bus stop to our room. I was all alone and I did not have a stroller. Aside from that, it was a nice walk every other day.

We did not need a car and the busses were great! There were a couple of times that we were on full busses and had to stand. I got really annoyed that, on more than one occassion, my DD and I had to stand and we were right in front of men who did not offer their seat to my DD. I thought it was pretty rude to make a 4y/o girl stand so late in the evening. There was one man though who did get up for my DD and I thanked him up and down. He was really sweet. My DD and I would share a seat so we could give up one to either an elderly person or a mom with a little one. ......I just needed to vent...thanks!

When we checked in, the girl asked us if we had a preference of rooms so that was nice. I would definately suggest getting the refillable mugs. My DD and I shared one which worked out well for us. Other families had bought one for each person. I thought it was really great for us.

Okay, I just now read the topic of this thread....way off topic...sorry!

Enjoy!

Hi Frstimer128
Don't be sorry. I thouroughly enjoyed reading about your trip. You have to tell me more. Any favourite eateries, rides or must do things?
That gettting out of your seat for others thing happens everywhere unfortunately. I just hope I brought my son up right to be curtious to others.
Hope to hear more stories soon.

Rosann...who are you going with? Big kids? Little? Adults?

This was a trip with just me and my DD4 so we did a lot of kid stuff like Aladin's magic carpets 500 times, dumbo a million times, Cinderella's Carousel 100 times, haunted mansion only once..lol. She loved ToonTown the best out of all the places. We had MNSSHP for Sunday so on the days before that when we were at MK, I did not bother going on Dumbo, Snow White, Splash Mt and so on, because I knew the lines were gong to be super short the night of the party. We had the most increduble time all week. Wishes was fantastic but you only need to see it once, I think. Around the park, not at meals, we met Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Chip and Dale, Queen of Hearts, Genie, Jasmine and Aladdin together, Goofy, Perla and Suzie (Cinderella's mice), Wendy, Cruella, CInderella, Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Buzz, Woody, Jessie, Bullseye, Rafiki, Timon

We did not bother with Epcot. Knowing my DD and myself, it did not interest either of us so we never went except for breakfast with Princesses which was alright.

Animal Kingdom was amazing! The early morning hour was nice and quiet so we went on the safari....a must see...and we went on the rapids ride...pretty fun! Those two had no lines early in the a.m. The entire park is covered with shade so it is not as hot as i expected. Plus, they have fans blowing on you everywhere you go which was really nice. Bugs Life movie was hysterical but not good for the easlily scared child. Tarzan show was a lot of fun. For Tarzan, sit in the middle towards the back right in front of the extended section of stage for the best views. The walk through exhibits of animals was incredible. We saw Tigers a foot away from us, we saw gorillas too. Amazing! Around the park and not at meals, we met Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Flick (Bug's Life), Lilo and Stitch, King Louie and Balloo (Jungle Book), Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger, Stanley, "Poka-honk-is" as my DD calls her.

MGM was very fun too. Beauty and the beast was a lot of fun and so was Little Mermaid and Muppets. Pizza Planet had yucky pizza IMO. At MGM we met Mickey, Jojo and Goliath, Green Army men, Buzz, Woody and Jessie. The best time to see characters here is around 2:30 before the parade. there were at least 10 at the front gate inside the park. We were too late so we missed most of them but there were tons! Different characters like the witch from Snow white, the llama and dopey guy from the Emperor's New Groove, the hero guy from Hunchback of Notre Dame and Quasimodo too.

As far as dining, I loved eating at Liberty Tree in MK. Great variety of food with all you can eat. Ham, turkey, steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots and apple crisp for dessert. In AK, Tusker House was fantastic for breakfast and really affordable. At MGM, we only ate at Pizza Planet which was not to our liking.

Have fun!

WOW! I've not seen the Tarzan Show -where is it located?

And the walk thru exihibits -where is that??

I've never taken much time to roam thru AK, but maybe the time has come!!

Tarzan is in animal kingdom kinda near Dino Land I think. It was really great. The walk through exhibits were in animal kingdom too. It was the Maharajah Jungle Trek(Asia) and the Pangani Forest Exploration (Africa). Both have self guided walk throughs with amazing animals.

I thought AK was going to be boring but it turned out to be almost as good as MK. Definately better than MGM and Epcot for us.

Hi Frstimer128,
Thank you again for posting your holiday. Is this what they call "hijacking" a thread? Hmmm not sure.
Anyway I will be visiting WDW on my own. I'm nearly 37 but I am just a big kid at heart.
Wishes is a fireworks show right? What is the best vantage point to see it do you think?
The characters are quite happy to have their photo taken with you aren't they? I have a lot of neice's and nephew's who would get a kick out of seeing a pic of me with a CM.
I will definately be going to AK and seeing what you recommend.

What is the Muppets at MGM?

Breakfast at Tusker House it is!!
Thank you again.
