Tipping Dolphin housekeeping - Do they do anything special for you ?

We are staying at the Dolphin Resort in a standard EPCOT view (hopefully get it - paid for it)
room. I have my Housekeeping envelopes all set. Even added the words in Spanish (para
neustra criada) - Thank You Housekeeping.

We are 2 adults and 2 children. Thinking of leaving $5 every morning.

Does the Dolphin Housekeeping do anything special for you ?
Character shaped towels ?

It will be my DD 7th birthday while we are there. Housekeeping may notice my DD's
birthday cards, flowers from the WDW florist, and wrapping paper in the garbage.

Is $5 too much ? too little ?

What special acts of kindness has the Dolphin Housekepping staff done for you ?

One of the "mousekeeping" maids took a children's illustrated book and placed it in the lap of a Mickey Mouse doll, along with the remote control. She put the Mickey doll on the bed propped up on a pillow and the TV was left on. Another time, one of them took all the dolls in the room and placed them on the bed on their tummies, all facing the TV and of course, the Disney Channel was on!

P.S., I usually leave $4 or $5 daily. And they really do appreciate your kindness.

I asked for turn down service and my kids Stuffed animals were always tucked into bed waiting for them. I will tell you they never took my money daily. I just left it on the bed in an a mousekeeping envelope and they never took it. I left it all the last day.

thanks for saying that, Glo. I remember now that at the beginning of my trip, the envelopes were still in the room, untouched. I literally had to get the maid and give her the envelope. People so seldom tip, they're not used to it. I also remember going out into the hallway later on, and the maid was showing the envelope to the other maids and they were all giggling and admiring the envelope. I thought that was kind of cute.

The Housekeeping Staff at the Dolphin are so wonderful, and most have been there for a "long" time. We know the girls by name, and have had the same housekeepers for the past 6 years now. Before that, we had another girl for 5 years, she now works at the Swan!

They have Always done special things for our DD, and place her Plush Disney Characters all over the room. Some are perched atop the lights over her bed, others are seated together in the club chair in front of window, with a paper and pencil in hand..."boardwalk" was written on the paper! They have also been all tucked under the covers, with MM reading them from our copy of Birnbaum's!! They have done too many things to count, and have left shaped towels on the beds as well. I take pictures of all the delightful "fun" things they have created/left. My DD enjoys looking back and recalling the "surprise" she discovered upon entering the suite!

I have never left the money for HK on a daily basis while at the Dolphin. We are there for such an extended stay, so I "hand-deliver" the money on the day prior to our last. They always beam when they receive the envelopes, and the small gifts from our DD for their own families and children (We know how many kids they have, etc.). After cleaning our suite for three+ weeks, and watching us have a great time (gifts piling up in the room, etc.), we love to give a little back to them. They are a wonderful staff of people, and appreciate every effort you extend to recognize them. Enjoy your time there...Hope your DD enjoys her Magical 7th Birthday @ WDW~!
(BTW...$5 per day is perfect--unless you are terribly messy, and most are not! I even make the beds every day...Just can't stop cleaning...even on vacation!!)
