do you tip the maids on a daily or weekly basis (or when you leave) I read one time the staff rotates and if you leave your tips daily you will cover all those who might service your room. How do you handle this? Thanks gailelle

Daily. This way the person who did the work gets the tip. Also, if they see you are tipping, they may be more apt to do something special (towel animals, stuffed toys at the window, leave extra towels, etc.)princess:

how do you do this....as far as I know there aren't any envelopes provided.....

How mush do you suggest for 2 adults and an infant on a daily basis?

We print out Mousekeeping envelopes!

Envelopes

I also tip daily thanks to these boards.

You will get replies that Disney Mousekeeping is not a tipped position, but many many guests do still tip.

I'm one of those tippers. I've been brought up to tip housekeeping.

I tip $1 per person per day sometimes more. We're a family of 4 but I usually tip $5 a day.

Printing out my envelopes is part of my fun planning phase!:teeth:

We tip daily. I make up the envelopes before we leave home, usually just plain white envelopes with "thank you housekeeping" written on the front. I usually place it on one of our pillows.

I notice no one answered the question of how much to tip...any help on this one, as I am wondering, too??
Thanks!

FYI-
I read in one of my 'books' that a good starting place was $1-3.00 a day. I guess it could be more depending on where you are staying, the extras that 'mousekeeping' does, and just how much you want to 'make their day magical'.
When we went last, I didn't know to tip, and wished I had afterward. Our mousekeeper placed the kids animals on their beds every night, made special animals out of the washcloths and even little napkins and/or notes folded special.
When we go in May, we will definately leave an envelope with a tip either on a pillow or in the bathroom sink.
Hope this helps-
Have a Magical Trip!

Hi,

We tend to tip about $2 daily using the Mousekeeping envelopes and maybe leave a bit extra on our last day.

The "general" rule is $1-2 for each person in the room daily. I travel a lot for business and found that if I leave the tip under the TV remote they always get it.

In WDW I usually write a little thank you with the tip and stick by the remote.

I have fun printing special envelopes before I go, but I didn't have any days off from work before my last trip so I ran out time to print them. But I noticed that housekeeping leaves a little card in the room at check in, so I placed the card on top of the tip each day so that they would know for sure that the money was for them.

I also tip daily and use small white envelopes. I let my daughter put some Disney stickers on them and I write "Thanks You,
Mousekeeper" or just "Mousekeeping". I usually leave $3 per day. There is only two of us and we are not leaving a big mess for them. I once left a note asking for one or two more pillows and they were there when I came back from the park that day.
Always been very happy with mousekeeping.

Daily... I want to make sure we don't miss anybody

We are usually 4 in the room and leave $5 daily and for great service on the last morning we usually leave $10-20 on top of that (we keep on the lookout for our regular maid during the week and find out if she is working on our last day-if not we tip early).

I bring scotch tape and tape the envelope at eye level on the mirror so it can't be missed and yes, it is a mousekeeping envelope printed from the computer. :)

I leave the money on the vanity by the sink. I tip $3-5 a day for the two or three of us. If we are getting turndown service, I also leave an additional $2-3 per evening.

There were a few timnes when the mousekeeper didn't take the tip. We'd leave it at the same place each time, on the night table between the beds, in the hands of a stuffed Mickey, with the bills open and clearly visable, as if Mickey was handing it out. It was only taken I think 3 times of our 7 night stay.

This makes me wonder if it's the same mousekeeper every time. Surely if it was, she'd know it was for her, if she took it the day before. I remember having a little card on the table in the room with the name of the mousekeeper, but maybe they switch.

I leave a dollar a person, since we're very neat, but maybe I need to find a better place to put it.

We always leave $5 for the 3 of us. We put it in a mousekeeping envelope that we print out ahead of time. I imagine a lot of housekeepers wouldn't touch money laying on your nightstand even if it was in Mickey's hand. How do they know that one of the kids didn't put it there to be cute or something? The last thing they want to be accused of is theft. I do know that at any other hotels we stay at we put the money on the pillow and it is always taken.

I always print my own Disney Mousekeeping envelopes, place five dollars inside each before my trip so that money isn't included with my spending money.:earsboy: For an added bit of magic I use Disney Paper (scrapbooking supplies) to make my envelopes then add Mosuekeeping and clipartwork on the front.

We tip five dollars daily,But have noticed that not all resorts do something special for the tip.Depends on the maid.
When we stayed at CRS last April nothing special was done to our room. But when we stayed at AKL,every day we had something special.BarbaraD was are mousekeeper and she's great! At the end of our stay we even left extra for her and my DD drew pictures for her because she maid our stay magical.
