I hope that this belongs on the Budget Board. We live a little over an hour from WDW. One of DD's classmate's parents have paid for the girls in her class to got the BBB in the MK for a birthday party makeover (I know...I can't even imagine the cost either!). This is a surprise party to boot! Anyways, the parents paid for everything but of course I want to tip our makeover person if that is allowed/appropriate. Can anyone tell me if it's OK to tip there and, if so, how much would be an appropriate tip? Thank you!

WOW. What a GREAT birthday. When we went to BBB in September we did tip our FGMIT. I saw most families leaving without tipping but ours was so great we had to. Out total bill was like $60 and we left her a $10 tip. Have fun!

I know at DLR they are not allowed to accept tips, I would imagine it's the same at WDW but I don't know for sure. Enjoy the party, BBB is fun!

At WDW, the Fairy Godmothers at BBB don't accept tips. The best tip you can give them is to genuinely thank them for turning your little pumpkin into a princess. :goodvibes

When we were at the BBB in Jan 2008 (wow that was a long time ago), we tipped our FGiT who helped us shop for my Emma's dress, the FGiT who did Emma's hair and the one who did Emma's nails. We tipped the shopper $10 and the hair and nail FGiT $20 each.

Is the "no able to accept tips" new? We are heading to BBB in June so I want to make sure I get the rules correct.

I know for sure that at DLR they cannot accept tips. You should call the BBB for WDW and ask the CM's to be sure.

I would expect the parents who are taking the girls to the boutique for the party to cover the tips for the stylists. Are all the parents of these girls actually going to the party too?

I have tipped at both locations. Last I knew fgmit were allowed to accept tips but their postion is not a tipped based one.

They do accept tips at both locations in WDW. My dd usually gets the coach pkg ($55) for nails and hair and I tip $10. One of the FGIT's told me that they split the tips, so you don't have to worry if one does the hair and another does the makeup.

We've been 3 times, with the most recent trip being October, and the FGITs gladly accepted the tips.

I didn't realize that they split the tips, so we tipped separately this last time - $10 to the one who did her hair and makeup and $5 to the one who did the nails. The other two times, it was one FGIT with the full package, and we tipped $20.

They do such a fabulous job and really make the girls feel special. :goodvibes

We tipped (we actually made our girls give the tip and their appreciation) at DTD WDW location in August 08. They were very appreciative or the tip.

We tipped our FGMiT $20 back in 2008. DD had the big package (dress, hair, nails, picture) if it helps.

We took our girls to the BBB in DL in June 09 and they do not accept tips so we went to City Hall and wrote a very complimentary praise of each CM who helped transform our girls into princesses. I was told by the folks at City Hall that the more of those praise coupons they get, they can receive merit raises, paid time off, etc.

And praise coupons aren't just for the CMs at the BBB. We make a habit to find at least one CM per trip who made our trip special and write a praise coupon for them. We've always had at least one. :thumbsup2

We have done BBB at WDW twice and I tipped both times. They don't expect it, but appreciate it. I even made special tip envelopes which they loved.

My girls have all done BBB twice, both times the basic package and both times we tipped $10 per girl. None of them said anyting about not being allowed to accept tips.

As for the party---WOW!!!! Not only the cost of the makeover but if it is the MK location, they are paying for the girls to get in to the park too. That is some party! :scared1:

WOW! Are these parents also paying for each girls admission into the parK? Thats ALOT of money.
Yes as of 2008 they were finally allowed to accept tips. Before that no, they couldn't. We tipped ours.
