TIP: Get a water instead of dessert

After our first QS meal we figured out we could get a bottle of water for the desert. We did not need the desert at lunch time but the water came in handy later on.

That sounds like a great tip for us! We'll be at WDW at the end of July and we'll need the water - more than the dessert!

Although... we didn't really get any desserts except for the Taste of Boma on our last trip, we were all OOP... So, I'm tempted to try them this year, if only because we have the DDP.

Water in place of dessert generally only works at, as the OP indicated, Quick Serve locations. Table Service restaurants will likely have at least one transportable dessert if the diner is too full after the entree; and of course, you can't take anything out of buffets or all you care to eat locations.

Always be aware that although most times subbing water for dessert will be no problem, as usual there will be the occasional exception to the rule. Tangierine Cafe does not allow substitution of any kind. There are one or two others and it sometimes comes down to the CM.

I have had water instead of dessert plenty times at Pecos Bills, but there was one isolated occasion last year when it was refused - this was definitely down to the CM.

But as always, if you don't ask, you don't get, and this one has a pretty good success rate.

we like getting the packaged apple slices. As with most here, we just can't do all the desserts included in our free ddp. So, at most CS meals, we get the packaged fruit to go and munch on it later in the day, nice and refreshing waiting in lines!!

That is an awesome tip! We usually just get the packaged fruit but the water would work out even better for us - those small packages always end up at the bottom of my backpack - nice and squished

Apparently it is also not available at ALL quick service locations.

I would opt for the fruit slice or desserts. Ice water is free! You can add the fruit to the water for a little flavor or bring flavor packets with you if you do not like tap water.

The ice water that is free in the parks comes from the soda dispensers so it is filtered.

I usually order a case of water and have it delivered to the resort but not this year. I know that we will eat several meals at the resort food court and we will have the refillable mugs so the plan is to get bottled water as the beverage that is included and use or mugs for what we will drink with that meal. Thus, saving the water for later but also we can never use all the snack credits so this year those will be for water as well.
