Hi all,

Just got back from a week at the Dolphin and a week on the Disney Western Caribbean Cruise. Here is the trip report. As well as me, there was my Disney Mum (DM) and my Disney Dad (DD).

Day 1 - Sat 25th Nov

We flew with Virgin from Manchester. Fly was really good, no delays and despite only booking economy seats we had extra legroom with loads of space, seats no. 21 h j k if anyone is interested!

We took the Virgin transfers to the Dolphin. We had a room in the east wing. I was worried about the mould stories, but our room was perfect. We had a view of the Tower of Terror and the Swan. The only small issue was the bathroom was small, just a toilet and bath/shower. The sink is outside. When we arrived we also had a $50 credit to our account, as they normally give you a $50 food voucher but they had run out. The hotel is lovely and the Xmas tree is so pretty. The pool area is also really nice. It is a large hotel and does take a few minutes to get from place to place.

After unpacking we headed to Epcot, about a 15 min walk across the Boardwalk. Epcot was quite busy. We decided to eat the Liberty Inn as we did not feel like a big meal. We found large queues and messy tables. The food was your usual counter service, chicken strips etc.

We got the boat back to the Dolphin. It takes some time as you stop the the Boardwalk and Y & B. It was also quite busy on the boat. It's quite small considering it serves so many resorts.

Day 2 - Sun 26th Nov

Girls with curly hair this bit is for you! I religously use my GHDs in the UK but had heard this dont work in the USA. After months of research I decided to opt for the Corioliss Pink Straighteners off ebay. They were only about 20 pound and claimed to work in the USA. Well, Sunday was d day! And they actually worked! They are not as good as GHDs but I have really curly hair and they managed to straighten it and as the weather wasnt too humid, it managed to stay straight all day!

We decided to have breakfast along the Boardwalk at the Boardwalk Bakery. It's a nice place to have a quick snack but be warned the queues are long!!

We spent the morning in Epcot. It was a sunny day, with temps about 75 degrees, think of an English summer day! We did Soarin', Test Track, Finding Nemo and Mission Space with an average wait of about 20 mins. I also saw the main characters at the Character Connection. It does take a while to see them all! It was off to France for lunch. I had made adrs at Chefs de France, and were seated straight away with no wait. Had a lovely table near the window. For the meal I had the Soup of the Day (vegetable), the roast chicken and profiteroles. It was lovely. My parents however opted for the French menu! The onion soup with cheese and bread on top, ham and cheese sandwich and creme brulee. The found the portions far too much, and the food to be very sickly. I must admit the soup did look like vomit!!! Overall, not too bad, and only cost us about $90!

After a few more rides in Epcot and it was off to Magic Kingdom via the monorail for extra magic hours! We were able to do some rides, including Splash Mountain, where we all got drenched!!! Howver, night emh are not that quiet. There seems to be just as many people as in the day!

No dinner for us as we were still full from lunch, so got the bus back to the hotel. Again like the boat, the bus was shared, but this time only with the Boardwalk. However, it was still busy, and a lot of people had to stand!

Day 3 - Monday 27th Nov

It was EMH at Animal Kingdom today, so it was off there first thing! Before catching the bus I tried to make adrs with concierge but nothing! I know international call charges are not cheap but definitely make adrs before you go. I only decided to make 3 adrs but should have made them all before I went! Things are quite bad since the DDP! However, a stroke of luck! Concierge gave me a priority seating card!

Now morning EMH are a different story to night EMH! I was able to walk on Expedition Everest, Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl. Now the morning was a bit foggy and there were a few showers but the sun kept fighting through! So it was on to the Safari before visiting the Finding Nemo musical! This is a must see! Then it was off to lunch. We used our priority seating card and was seated quickly! Me and DM had chicken and DD has steak! The food here was really good! But i you dont have a big appetite just order a main course and no starter! Portions are enormous!

After lunch we headed to Camp Minnie Mickey for photographs wit the characters in their xmas outfits! There were again lots of queues! But its worth the wait, even for a 24 year old! The showers became more frequent throughout the day so it was off to It's a bug's life before catching the bus back to the hotel.

Now it was off to MGM for night EMH. We caught the boat, and after arriving managed to get on the Tower of Terror, Muppets 3D, Star Tours with little wait. There were two shows of Fantasmic that night, 7pm and 8:30pm. We decided on the later show, wrong choice. You couldnt even get near the theatre by 8pm, the queue to get in was so long. It had been a long day so it was off to boat and the hotel!

The rest of the trip report to follow...

Excellent start ~ Can't wait to read more.

Here is the rest of the trip report for the week at the Dolphin. The Cruise report will follow!

Day 4 - Wed 28th Nov

We woke up this morning and it was raining and DD was sick! So me and DM headed to the Mall at Millenia! As my DM knows about my driving in the UK she decided not to let me hire a car to drive to the mall so we just got a taxi. Not too expensive, only about $40! Now, if you love designer shops, and I dont mean outlets, this is the place for you! First went to Tiffany and Co! I wont even tell you how much I spent! I did treat myself to a diamond pendant as I had found out the Friday before I came to Florida that I had passed my Masters with distinction! So that was my well done treat! The prices were cheaper that the UK. Just make sure you remember the sales tax (6.5%) when buying something expensive! I got quite a shock! It was then off to Bloomingdales where I bought up the Clinique counter. Basically, clinique prices are half they are in the UK, so make sure you stock up! It was then off to Gucci and Louis Vuitton where I treated myself to 2 handbags! Prices are similar to the UK. For lunch we went to the Cheesecake Factory. You have to go here for lunch, its very popular, but the food is gorgeous and again the portions are huge! After lunch it was of to Nieman Marcus, Sanrio (Hello Kitty fans must visit here), and Macys. Like Clinque, Benefit is also chepaer in the US than the UK, so I stocked up in Macys!

It was a taxi back to the Dolphin, where DD was still sick , so me and DM went to Downtown Disney! We got absolutely soaked in the rain so took shelter in Cookes of Dublin, which was a nice cheap place to have a quick eat! Then we ran to the nearest bus stop home! The buses at Downtown Disney tend to be busy as they are shared!

Day 5 - Wed 29th Nov

This morning it was raining again, and DD like most sick men claimed to be on his deathbed! Me and DM walked over the Beach Club, only 5 mins walk, for a character breakfast in the Cape May Cafe. This is a lovely intimate breakfast, including Minnie Mouse. The food is lovely and the server was fanatsic and attentive! Good value for money!

It was then off to the Mandara Spa for a french manicure. I had doubts over the manicure, but overall this is a lovely place to spend a few hours! Very relaxing, even for a stresshead like me! I charged the manicure to the account and it was covered by the $50 credit, which I think was meant only for food!!!!!

After the manicure it was off for more shopping, this time to Premium Outlet Mall, which was close to Disney and cost us $15 in a Mears town car! I was a little disappointed with this place, especially after the Mall at Millenia! There was a lot of British people here so maybe I am the odd one out in not liking it.

We made a quick stop at MGM studioes before tea! And managed to see Fantasmic!!! Make sure you get there early! No later then 45 mins before showtime! Earlier if you want good seats!

For tea it was 'Ohana at the Polynesian! I was so looking forward to this and had made adrs well in advance! Now for those who have seen Lilo and Stich you will all know that 'Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind. Well, on this particular night my DD got left behind because he was still sick! So it was me and DM again. It all started well. We saw Wishes and I got my Lapu Lapu cocktail! It was $12, but was very strong and served in a huge pineapple! We watched the Water Electrical Pagent! But one thing to remember is that they have children's entertainment, which seemed to land itself right next to our table! We had 30 children shaking maracas and coughing in our food, right next to our table! If you get an isle seat, ask to change it! Unless you love children! The food is ok, but I am a fussy eater! I only picked at the food! But overall I think this is a must do!

Day 6 - 30th Nov

EMH at Magic Kingdom this morning, so we got there early and did some rides in Fantasyland before going to the Crystal Palace! Now you can tell from my name I love piglet so this was the meal I was most looking forward to, and had even made my adrs 180 days in advance! You do have to wait a while to see the characters, but again the food is nice (piglet waffles!!!) and its a pretty restaurant!

We stayed at the Magic Kingom until lunchtime before going back to the hotel! We had lunch at the Cabana bar! Ok, but a bit pricey for what it was! Now DD was starting to recover by this point so it was the 3 of us again! And we all went to Downtown Disney for shopping! We also went to Disney Quest! I had never been before and I was so intrigued! But what I can say, is this is the strangest place in the whole of Disneyworld! Me and DM went on Cyber Space Mountain, where you design your own rollercoaster! Now one point of advice here is not to let the person you are with just press any old buttons! LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING! My DM made the most scary rollercoaster, without me even knowing! We got in the simulator and spent the whole time upside down! My DM said she would never go on a ride that turned her upside down!
After a quick recovery it was on to more troubles on the Jungle Cruise, where we nearly fell out of our dingy!

We decided to make a quick escape with our lives still in tact, and went to House of Blues for tea! This place was just ok! Nothing special I am sorry to say!

Day 7 - Fri 1st Dec

We went to MGM in the morning as it was close by! We saw the motor show and the walked to the Boardwalk for lunch! Lovely food, but just too much! No room for dessert!

After lunch, we went to the place I had wanted to go to since I was 12 years old! Well after 12 years of waiting, I finally got to FANTASIA GARDENS! I can hear you all saying why would someone get so excited over mini golf! I am not sure either but just really wanted to go! It was so much fun and the prettiest course I have been on! Not too expensive either!!!!

After the golf we decided to go back to Epcot to see the Candlelight Processional! Now, I have to say, if you dont have a dinner package, get there early. The queue was so long we didnt get to see it! So gutted! But never mind! Thats an excuse to go back!!!

After riding Soarin' one more time in EMH it was back to the hotel!

Day 8 - Sat 2nd Dec

Got up early to pack for our Disney Cruise...

To be continued!
