This is kinda a silly question, but is the tiny bottle of dish soap in the studios free like the mini shampoo and conditioner bottles? I carry around my own cutlery everywhere and a small bottle like that would be really nice to have in general. Thanks!

They don't bill you if you used it. If that is what you mean.

All hotels dispose/recycle used/opened soaps after each guest. So I don't see the harm in taking it. I took one because it was perfect to take camping.

It’s free in the sense that they won’t charge you for it if you take it home with you. It’s not free in the sense that the DVC owners at that resort pay for it in their dues. TBH I have no idea what Housekeeping does with partial bottles - toss, refill, take home themselves - so you can treat it the same as you treat the individual containers of shampoo, etc. As an owner, I’d simply ask that you take home only one bottle, the one you had for your use while there.

Thanks! I just want a bottle to take with me after I leave cuz it's so perfect for travel. I only need one :)

It's pretty easy to find travel-sized bottles at e.g. your local pharmacy or outdoor gear store. Heck, your local pharmacy probably sells travel-sized dish soap.

Or Walmart or Target. Look in the personal care section. There will be one aisle which has travel size (3 ounce) bottles of things and empty bottles that you can fill with dish soap, shampoo, sunscreen, etc.

I did read a long time ago that they would donate the used soap products (shampoo, conditioner, etc) to a company which would combine and repackage it for third world countries. I found a recent article about it: Hotel soap recycling
