Friday 22nd December

After a rough night last night DD woke at half 7 and was still coughing. I had already decided to call the Dr as she was not getting any better and waited until DS woke up. He woke at 8am and after we had all got breakfast I packed the boys off to MK and called the number that Lou Ann given me. It was for Doctors On Call I called and left a message with our hotel name, room number and last name. They called back within half an hour, took a breif medical history of DD and went through what was wrong on the phone. The person I spoke to said they could send a Dr and explained all the fees and charges and that they would send a Dr if we wanted to. I asked them to send one and they told me that Dr Steve Bockian would be with us by 10am. He arrived bang on 10 and was really nice. He made DD feel very much at ease and explained the whole procedure to me. First he did some paperwork then gave DD a through examination and diagnosed a sinus infection (which is what I had when we arrived.) and a severe cough. As part of the service they bring the first dose of medicne with them then arrange for a local pharmacy to deliver the rest. He gave DD an antibiotic and some Calpol equivalent right away and said the rest of her prescription would be delivered to the front desk during the day by a local pharmacy and be charged to our room so we wouldn’t have to wait in for it. The Dr was with us for about an hour and the consultation cost $335. He gave us the necessary paperwork to claim back from our insurers. A CM later told us that he was also visiting another child on the Concierge floor who’s parents had called.

Once the Dr had gone DD & I went over to MK to try and meet the boys. I called DH a few times but he couldn’t hear his phone. Meanwhile DD & I went to Cosmic’s where we had burger and a hot dog. DH called us when we were there and we arranged to meet at Country Bears. We walked over there and they boys were just coming out when we arrived. They went off to do Splash with DD and I went and had a Dole Whip :rolleyes1 They met me by the Swiss Family tree house and they had 2 Dole Whip Vanilla swirls and a chocolate soft serve for DS. We left MK after that as DD was feeling tired. We got the monorail back and chilled in the room for a while before going swimming. It was cloudy but still warm. We stayed at the pool until 3pm then came up to chill.

There were personal signed photo’s for the kids from Minnie & Mickey and some Jelly Beans & Balloons which they were delighted with. I caught up on the TR and we got ready for dinner at Concourse. Mousekeeping had left us a nice toothbrush holder

We went down to the 4th floor and checked in for our ADR. I went and got some Calpol equivalent from the shop while we were waiting and gave DD some right away as she was starting to get hot and we also went to the front desk to collect her perscription. We were paged for our dinner and our server was Jesus. DS had been looking forward to this meal as he had a lovely steak and some pasta when we were here in the summer. We ordered him the kids steak and DD ordered a pizza, DH & I had the 10oz strip steak and I took my sauce on the side as I found it a bit overpowering last time. DD also ordered a drink with a red glow cube and now only needs to get the green one to make the set. The meal arrived and when we saw DS’s steak we all started laughing. You’ll have to excuse the bad photo as we were laughing too much.

We couldn’t believe how small it was. I’d say there was probably about 3 inches across and four bites worth - I actually asked our server if this was a joke but he said that it was part of the new kids meal and this was a 4oz steak.

I have to say that the new kids meal is a real cut back by Disney and another way to save money. The kids ordered exactly the same meal a couple of months ago and the portions were much larger. DS’s steak then was at least 7oz - also the quality of DD’s pizza was better last time. This time it was like a frozen Tesco value pizza. DS took less then a minute to eat his huge steak and I ended up giving him half of mine. The kids had ice-cream and gone was the painter pallet desert that DD had in the summer and had been looking forward to another cost cutting excersise

As DD still wasn’t feeling great we went back up to the room where the kids watched some TV. DH & I went to the lounge and got some deserts and coffee and took those back. It was another early night with a sick DD

Weather Sunny and cloudy we only needed shorts and T-shirts

LOL Jackie - I'm never going to complain about the cost of a GP visit again

I hope your DD feels better tomorrow

That steak looks pathetic, Like it was made for a kitten not a growing boy!

Not many mouthful's in that steak, lol. Hope your DD is better soon.

Hope your DD starts to feel better soon with the medication. I had a sinus infection in Florida a few years ago and couldn't believe the cost of the prescription!

Glad the Dr helped

The steak is something else!
