Thursday 21st December
I woke up at 6am this morning with DD at half 6 and DS at 7am. Once DS was awake, DD & I popped down to the lounge and got breakfast for everyone. They had a wide selection which included orange or cranberry juice, full, low fat or chocolate milk, regular or decaf coffee and hot water to make tea. On the food side there was a choice of 3 different cereals , some hot oat type thing, Krispy Kreme donuts, mini muffins and pastries, toast with 3 types of bread, and my favourite English muffins which you could toast and add peanut butter
We went on the Internet to track DHs flight, it was mid Atlantic and due to arrive at JFK at 1:50pm so at least he was on his way. I also had a text from DDs teacher to say that she had won 2nd prize in a Bank of Ireland colouring competition and got a 50 toyshop voucher.
We went down to the pool by half 9 and I took a big bag of washing with me. No .I didnt plan to dump it in the deep end with some washing powder
The laundry is in the South Garden Wing which is right by the pool. There was an American Mom there with her two kids and I asked her if she would keep an eye on DS and DD while I put the laundry on. She said it wasnt a problem as she planned to be in the pool for a while. I found the laundry room no problem and was back within 10 minutes.
DD decided she wanted to be the first to open the slide so she waited in line until 10am. When the lifeguards came she got her Magical Moment as she had to put on a Fantasia Mickey hat, gloves and use her magic wand to turn on the different fountains around the pool and lastly start the slide. She was delighted and afterwards she got to ride first and got a certificate. I finished the laundry and we left the pool just after 11am, we grabbed some drinks and snacks from the lounge got changed and caught the monorail to Epcot. It was very hot and sunny today and the lack of humidity that we have in the summer made it pleasant. We did Test Track then walked through to World Showcase and did the ride a Mexico DS tried on a rather fetching hat.
Next up was the ride at Norway and there was a family behind who had never been on this one before. The girl got very scared when DS put his hands up in a rollercoaster style and I actually had to turn round and assure her there wasnt going to be a big drop.
It was time for some Ice-cream and a frozen lemonade, then DD said she would like her face painted and chose a cat princess. When the transformation was complete we continued on through Italy, Morocco where we saw a hidden Mickey and the UK where we bought some over priced chocolate.
It was soon time to head out the International gateway for our DVC Members Merry Mixer. There was about half an hour until it opened but already a line and formed. There were some carollers to entertain us and they looked really silly in their jumpers singing Oh the weather outside if frightful . In 80 degree blazing sunshine
Soon it was time to go in and it was a great event. There was Mickey and Minnie in special holiday outfits posing for photos, Santa Goofy, Pluto and a Reindeer all wandering around and playing with the kids. They had water or cold cider to drink and cookies to eat. The kids went in for loads of dancing, hula hoop competitions and we did some pin trading (and got some lovely pins)
We left at 4pm as the kids were knackered from all the dancing and DD was having a coughing fit. We grabbed some McD fries on the way out and got the monorail back to the resort where we all showered and changed. We tracked DHs second flight and that one was due into MCO at 6:18pm
We had something to eat from the lounge and the choice was chicken wings, ribs, crudités & dip and cheese & crackers. I also had a glass of wine. We watched the 6pm Wished from the balcony and DH phoned just afterwards to say he had landed. He had got his upgrade to premium on the way out which meant he got a personal monitor and foot rest which he said was nice. I took a plate of cheese and biscuits back to the room for him as I guessed hed be hungry when he eventually arrived.
DH called again when he was on ME and I knew hed be about half an hour. We went back down to the lounge and the kids watched the TV while I kept an eye out for the ME coach. We saw it pulling in so all rushed downstairs to meet DH. The kids and I were delighted to see him and he was glad to be here. They tried to tell him everything theyd done in a week during the lift journey
We caught up with all our news and let DH watch Holiday Wishes from the balcony before going to bed at 10pm. DD had a such a bad coughing fit that she got sick and she was feeling really unwell. The medicine from Wal-Mart has not helped so I will have to call a Dr tomorrow.
Weather Hot and sunny we only needed shorts and T-shirts.
