Tuesday 19th December

I woke at 6am today thankfully feeling much better, but DD woke at half 6 with a sore throat and a “barky” cough but she said she felt OK. DS joined the land of the living at around 7am. We were moving to the Contemporary today and to be honest, I was glad. AKL just didn’t do it for me and, perhaps because I had been sick yesterday, the smell of the cooking from Boma and Jiko (which is all around the hotel) was really starting to get to me and making me feel sick.

We had breakfast in the room and then went to call bell services, or I would have done if the phone had been working. I had to walk half way to the lobby to find a house phone and call them from there, they said they’d report the phone not working. Our luggage was collected and I tipped the guy and he said they would be at our new resort before 3pm this afternoon. I’d already done express check out so once we were free of the cases we waved goodbye to AKL and set off for “home”

I decided the easiest way to get to the CR would be a bus to AK which came quickly, we then asked the bus controller there if we could get a bus to CR and he got on the radio and got one sent to our stop almost immediately. As no one else was leaving the park at that early we had the bus to ourselves. DD was doing a lot of coughing so once we checked in at the CR we were going to get a cab to Wal-Mart and see if I could get some medicne for her.

We got to the CR and as we arrived by bus I didn’t see the curb side check in for concierge. I went to the desk downstairs and the CM there put us in the lift and said Lou-Ann would be waiting for us on the 12th floor. Lou-Ann was indeed waiting and she was really nice – the kids went and got a drink and sat and watched the TV while I checked in. I asked if we had been lucky enough to get our MK view request and Lou-Ann said that there was no mention of a MK view on our ressie at all. I must have looked crestfallen and explained that I had requested it at the time of booking, she did some searching in the computer and eventually found the request along with the name of the CM who took our initial booking. I explained about the kids autism and how they wouldn’t be up for the crowds in the park but loved watching Wishes and if it was at all possible to get a MK view that would be great but if not I would understand.

Lou-Ann spent ages on the computer and then made a phone call and basically managed to get us a MK room. It was room 4848, which is the closest one to the MK right on the end. The person in there had a late check out so we wouldn’t be able to get in until mid afternoon but I was so happy to get the view I didn’t mind. Lou-Ann also sorted out our MVMCP tickets which were on a will call

I grabbed a coffee and admired the lounge and the view.

Once I’d finished we went down and got a cab to the Wal-Mart on the SR-535 which cost $25 inc tip. While we were there we got a couple of Nintendo DS games, some T-shirts for DS and some My Little Pony’s and Tylenol cough and sore throat medicne for DD who was fading fast. We got back to the lounge at around half 12 and chilled there until our room was ready at half 2.

As soon as we were in the room I called bell services and they sent the cases up right away. When we got to the room there was a Pirates of the Carabien Minnie Mouse for DD and a Santa Stitch for DS plus a small fibre optic Disney tree which looked really nice and got home in one piece.

I had a chance to take a few piccies before we trashed the place. I like the new décor and the CR rooms are so large they don’t feel cramped, even with all our stuff in.

We got changed as DD wanted to wear her Minnie dress for MVMCP. We had our AP’s but we were let into the park on our MVMCP tickets at 3:40pm and got our wristbands as we went in. We caught the train to Frontier Land and the kids did BTM but DD was not looking too good. We went and saw the Country Bears Jamboree and then went to Crystal Palace for our 5pm ADR. We had a nice dinner but our server was not very good with us but extremley attentive to the American family on the next table. We had photo’s with all the usual suspects and Tigger was naughty as usual.

When we finished dinner we went into Tomorrowland and did Buzz and Stich but Space Mountain was down. We went over to the Galaxy Theatre and watched the show, it was packed by the time the show started but well worth seeing.

DD was really not well so we had to cut our night short and head back to the Contemporary. We left the park at 8pm only an hour after the party started and without doing most of the things we wanted. It was a shame but DD just wasn't up for it, she had some of the medicne and got into bed while I caught up on the trip reports and did some on-line stuff as there was a PC and free internet access in the room. DS played with the Nintendo and watched some TV. I got some drinks and snacks for the kids and a coffee for me from the lounge.

We all watched Holiday Wishes from the balcony and ohhed and ahhed at all the right moments.

Weather Hot and sunny we only needed shorts and T-shirts even for MVMCP.

oh no i cant beleive your dd is poorly now:hug: hope the medicine kicks in soon

Poor Niamh! Hope she recovers quickly. Contemporary Concierge looks fab BTW - will definitely have to give it a try in the future...:thumbsup2

The CR looks wonderful. Hope your DD is feeling better tomorrow :)

Shame that DD was poorly but a result with your room and view :)

Never sure what is worse "you" being ill or one of the children. Either way it is so stressful and seems so sad to be ill on a holiday.

The photos are great thanks for sharing them

Oh what a shame about your DD being poorly. Your room looks great, I wouldn't mind staying there.

I hope your little girl was soon feeling better. How wonderful that you got a MK view room. It looks like a beautiful resort.
