Sunday 17th December

I woke at 5am today and spent the next hour or so trying to be quite so as not to wake the kids. There was a serial flusher in the room next door who must have flushed the loo about 12 times, there was either a very large family in there or someone had a touch of Delhi Belly. I got up at 6am and as we were very close to the laundry room I put some washing on. DD woke at around ten past six and played with her My Little Pony. We looked out over the Savannah and it was very foggy. I could hear some strange animal calls and couldn’t work out if they were a real animal or a Disney effect.

DS woke at half 6 but was still tired. I went and finished the laundry and we then had breakfast in the room. We left for MGM just after 8am and we were the only ones at the bus stop. We had to wait at the turn styles and DS was getting agitated with the wait so I am not going to get to the parks before opening tomorrow. We were soon let in and watched the pre-rope drop show. At 9am we started the fast (but not running) walk to RnR. It was foggy and the TOT looked eerie in the distance

We were amongst the first on RnR and there seemed to be a very long line by the time we left. After RnR I had a coffee and the kids had a muffin each and some water for DS and a Strawberry Slushie for DD, she drank about a quarter of it. She also got some popcorn. When the popcorn had gone we did the Great Movie Ride - we really like this and there was hardly any wait. Next it was DS’s choice and he picked Muppets 3D, from there we spotted Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper so we had to stop for a photo.

We went to the Indiana Jones show and it was time for our Sci Fi ADR when we came out. They were turning away walk ins and we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. We waited in the bookstore next door which was nice and quiet. While we were waiting I bought some postcards to send and DD spotted a pin she wanted to trade for, she came over to get a trader from me but before she could get back to the CM a man took the pin she wanted. DD was really upset and started crying, I tried to comfort her and at the same time they called us for our table and in the confusion I forgot the postcards, when I went back after lunch they had gone.

The Sci-Fi Diner was great and the kids were mesmerized by it. We were right at the front and they didn’t take their eyes off the screen. The food was OK and I had the Shrimp Penne Pasta while DD had a pizza and DS had a burger. We left stuffed and decided to go back to ALK. We were back and in the pool just after 2pm (can you see a pattern here).

The kids did the two organized activities one of which was Lego races where you build and then race a Lego car. I have to say that our US cousins don’t really play fair and were just throwing their cars across the finish line instead of racing them properly.

We went back to the room about 5 and got showered and changed before heading back to MGM. We did RnR again and as the kids were hungry we decided to try a Turkey leg. We waited in line for over 20 minutes before we were served. Now I’ve never really liked the look of the Turkey legs and I can safely I won’t ever buy one again. It was awful - it tasted of liquid smoke and was very fatty. We binned most of it off and went down the street to get some McDonald’s fries.

We finished our fries then went to see the Osbourn Lights, they were every bit as fantastic as everyone said and we particularly loved the dancing part and the snow.

We were tired again so left MGM and were back in the room just after 8. We watched some TV and went to sleep just after 9.

Weather Warm and cloudy with a bit of sun we only needed shorts and T-shirts even in the evening.

A nice eerie picture of ToT!! Osbourne Lights Rock!! Perhaps we should have tried a TS restaurant in MGM, none of them ever appeal to me but at least two members of our family would LOVE Sci Fi Dine in.

Another lovely day! I have never been tempted by the turkey legs!!

The food was nothing special but it was worth going just for the setting

great pic of TOT you should enter that in the photo competition on the uk community boards when mgm comes up:thumbsup2

Lovely day and the ToT photo is great :thumbsup2

:yay:

Shame about the pin and the postcards but at least you all enjoyed the atmosphere of the sci fi dinner. It really is different and great for the kids.

Really enjoying reading your reports.

I love the atmosphere in the Sci-fi, though I think the food has gone downhill. I always think those turkey legs look revolting, pleased to hear that I was right! Your ToT pic is amazing, very atmospheric. I would love to see the Osborne Lights, they look incredible.
