Saturday 30th December

The forecast for today and tomorrow was hot and sunny with cooler weather on Monday. We decided to take advantage of that and spend some time by the pool and re schedule our Sea-World visit until Monday. DD and I were up at half 7 and the boys slept on. They woke just after nine and once we all had breakfast we set off for the pool.

It was busy but we found a table and soon the kids were splashing away while Steve and I had a coffee. With that out of the way it was time to get in. We had great fun and spent ages watching the ducks and ducklings that live around the pool area.

The weather was hot and sunny so the pool was a great place to be. And we loved the geyser that erupted on the hour every hour.

We stayed by the pool until about half 1 then DS and I came up to the room and DH and DD came up about half an hour later. We got showered and changed and caught the boat across to MK - the boat is a great way to get to MK as it drops you right near the turnstiles. Our first stop was an ice-cream from the Main Street shop and we sat and ate these overlooking the castle. When we’d finished we went into Tomorrowland but as expected it was busy so we went on the TA then over to Indy Speedway for the kids, from there we walked over to the carousel and once the kids had ridden that we decided to leave. They wanted to pull the sword from the stone and as I went to take their photo I slipped on the wet pavement and fell over. Once DH stopped laughing he helped me up and took the photo. I was OK but I grazed my leg and hurt my pride.

The parade had started up in Frontier Land so we made our way down to Town Square and watched it from there as it wasn’t too busy. About half way through the parade a “gentleman” who appeared not to speak English tried to plonk his grandson down on top of DS and DD. There wasn’t really a space and their autism doesn’t allow for too closer personal contact with strangers and DD in particular started to get agitated. He and I had a “conversation” and he soon got the message and moved about 10 yards away where there was some room (don’t know why he didn’t do this in the first place). We enjoyed the parade and left once it had finished.

We got the boat back to WL and picked up the car. First stop was Golden Corral for DS as it was Steak and Steak night. He had his steak and pasta and said he would recommend this restaurant to anyone he knew who was going to Orlando. We left Golden Corral and headed to Super Target to see if we could get another suitcase. They didn’t have any so we went to LBV factory outlets, which weren’t far away. I was looking for the luggage shop that was there but it seems to have gone and there was no where selling cases. We were getting tired so didn’t bother going anywhere else. We can try again tomorrow as the parks will be far too busy for us. We had a note to say that MK, MGM and Epcot will open at 7am tomorrow so I am expecting them to be wall to wall.

Next up was mini golf and we tried Fantasia Gardens for a change. We got there just after 7pm and our tee time was 7:38pm. The time soon passed until it was our go. We had great fun although DS and DD got annoyed and upset when they couldn’t get a hole in one on each hole. While we were playing we got to see some of the fireworks from Fantasmic which was cool. We finished our golf and were back in the room just after nine. DD spotted the Electric Water Pageant and we rushed down to the beach to watch it. We were all tired so it was bed just after 10pm

Weather Hot & sunny shorts and T-shirts even for golf

another great day

A lovely day. I love mini-golf. I also love your picture of the ducklings! Sorry to hear about your fall, hope it wasn't too painful.

Sounds like you made the most of a busy park day

Wilderness lodge sounds great. Did you prefer WL or contemporary?

Its a tough call Susan. We only stayed in the Contemporary as we didn't have enough DVC points for our entire stay to be at DVC resorts. I love the location of the CR and to be able to sit on your balcony and watch Wishes is priceless. The Wilderness Lodge on the other hand has a really rustic feel to it and is less sterile plus the DVC accommodation there suits us better. I don't think I could choose between them but and while it is still a hotel we probably wouldn't stay at the CR again but I guess when DVC comes to the CR it would get the edge just because of being able to see Wishes.

You didn't seem to like the Animal Kingdom lodge. Do you think you will give the DVC villas a try when they open?

I'm not sure - I'd like to go back to VWL and we only got one night at BWV last year so we'd want to do these first. If we did it wouldn't be for a few years and then only for a couple of nights. DH hasn't stayed there so he should get to try it.
