Wednesday 1st August

Today was a kid’s choice day. Before we left I’d told DS and DD that they would get a couple of days when they could decide what we did. Today was DD’s choice and she picked a trip to Build a Bear at the Florida Mall, DTD to watch the Simpsons Movie and Golden Corral for Mexican night - so that’s today’s plan.

I woke at about half 6 and made some coffee and caught up with the trip reports and did a bit of surfing before the others woke. The kids were up about half 7 and DH got up about half 8. His headache was better so after breakfast we set off for the Florida Mall. We called into Bestbuy first where we bought a 2gb SD card for $24 and a Nintendo DS game. It was then on to the Florida Mall, we parked near Macy’s and the first stop was Build a Bear where we spent about 40 minutes. DD got a pink cat with a cool outfit and DS got a brown bear with a snazzy Florida T-shirt and jeans. Next up was Abercrombie & Fitch for a hoodie and a couple of T-shirts for a friends daughter and then a quick stop in Old Navy. As the time was approaching noon we headed for the food court next where DD and DH had cheese steak subs and DS and I had Bourbon chicken with plain rice for him and fried rice for me.

We checked out the two game shops but as the Florida Mall was so busy there were no second hand games. DS had a quick stop in KB toys to see if they had any Yu-Gi-Oh cards but there was nothing new. We decided to head back to the car and on the way got two Starbucks coffees for DH & I and some pick and mix sweets for the kids to eat in the cinema. We had a look in the Disney store and the M&M store on the way out. We went over to Toys R Us but I’m wondering if it is closing down as there were hardly any toys on she shelves and big open area’s with no shelves at all. DD did manage to get a Bratz doll reduced so she was pleased.

It was really hot so we all decided not to go to the cinema today but to come back and swim in the pool so after a stop in Circuit City where we got some Nintendo accessories and two more games we headed back to the villa.

After swimming the kids played their new games while DH & I sorted out the shopping then chilled for a while. We headed out to the Golden Corral at about 5pm and it was lashing rain again by the time we left.

Ever the hero - DH ran to the car and brought it as close to us as he could but even with a 10ft dash we all got wet. We came home and had a few games of pool. DH managed to beat me twice (I let him win ;) ) This heat is really draining and we were all tired so DD and I went to bed about half 9 and the boys at half 10.

Tomorrow - Typhoon Lagoon and the Simpsons Movie

Another great day Jakki. I love walking around the Florida Mall food court and trying the freebies that are handed out - Bourbon chicken is my fave too :thumbsup2

Lovely report and what a lovely looking villa you stayed in. Looks like it has its own jacuzzi too. I have always fancied sipping a glass of wine in one with the hubbie.

I'm really enjoying your trippies :goodvibes

What a wonderful outlook from your pool. The pool looks pretty big, too:thumbsup2

We love the Florida Mall and the food court. We too found the August heat far too draining.

What a nice idea to let the kids choose what they want to do, sounds like you all enjoyed your day. Pleased to hear that your hubby was feeling better.
