Sunday 5th August
Last night DD decided to take out her hair braids but left the one in the middle just for today. It was the usual morning routine and we left the villa for MK around half 9. It was already very hot today and by the look of it quite a few people decided this was a good day to visit MK. I noticed the new ticket prices that came into effect today and a 1 day pass is now $71. We caught the monorail and we could see long lines to get into the park. Once past bag check we noticed all the lines seemed to be at the left hand set of ticket machines and we were able to walk straight through on the right hand side.
Just as we got into Main Street we saw a double decker bus loading up (a bit like the character bus that used to be in Epcot but green) and we managed to be the last people to get a seat upstairs. We had a great view from up there and a really nice journey up Main Street.
They still had the trolley bus, which was pulled by horses but this was the first time Id seen the double decker.
DD wanted to see the show which was about 20 minutes away so DH and DS went off into tomorrow land while DD and I waited in the hot hot sun. I was starting to see mirages of characters who looked like cold drinks and I was just about to run over and accost one but luckily the show started.
We were on a bench which was just as well as a couple of large people stood right in front of DD but she was able to stand on the bench to see the show.
When it was over and the world was saved we went in to Tomorrow Land and had a much needed frozen coke while we waited for the boys to get off Space Mountain. Theyd also managed to do Stitch and Buzz while we were gone. We went to the new Laugh Floor and it was a good show that had us all laughing.
By now it was time for our ADR at the Plaza restaurant and we checked in at 12 and we were seated almost immediately. We ordered 2 mini cheese burgers for DD, a plain burger - just meat and fries for DS, a Ruben for DH and a cheese steak for me, they were all lovely. We saved room for desert and in the same order we had mint choc chip and chocolate sauce sundae, Chocolate ice-cream with brownies and two New York style cheesecakes with strawberry sauce.
Full and nicely cooled down we started our journey into Adventureland and the kids disappeared for a while into the Swiss Family Tree House while DH and I watched the naughty camel at the Aladdin ride spit water on unsuspecting people below.
I dont know if other people have this problem or if it is just because our kids both have autism but they constantly bicker - and I mean constantly. It is a rare thing in our house for them to actually get on together and today the bickering was at an all time high. They came out of the tree house arguing and it just seemed to go on and on. Normally I dont mention it in the trippies as thats all youd hear about and I try not to let it get to me too much, but today with the heat and the fact we were supposed to be in the happy place it just all seemed too much and both DH and I were on a major downer because of it.
Anyway - we decided to do an old favourite the Tiki Room and it was as good as ever except for a very annoying woman right behind me who kept taking photos using her flash. After about the 4th time I turned round and asked her to stop in a none too polite voice. I few minutes later her and her DH got up and left. We all piled out once the show was over and I spotted the annoying woman and her DH walking back towards the exit of Tiki Room with a very very large person who might have been her DS. Perhaps she was bringing him back to sort me out. Next we decided to go on Pirates mainly as DS and I had not been on it before. Hes always been a bit scared of it but finally believed us that it was not a scary ride. We really enjoyed it as basically its like IASW but darker.
We made our way to Splash Mountain where I waited on a rocking chair in the Briar Patch shop, the lads rode at the front and got wet. When they got back I gave DH a break and took them on Big Thunder where the bickering and winding up continued unabated.
I decided to call it a day at this point as the heat and the arguing was no fun for anyone. We did one last stop at Country Bears and as we came out we caught the end of the Parade. By the time wed made it back to Main Street via Adventureland we caught up with the Parade again and saw a bit more.
We left the park and went back to the Monorail station where we were able to ride with the driver which was nice as the train was packed. We had a good chat with him and got some co-pilot licenses as well. We walked back to a hot car and made our way back to the villa trying not to get 3rd degree burns off any metal or plastic objects in the car.
The bickering continued in the pool and in the end I got them both out, showered and sent to separate rooms to chill out. DH spent some time in the pool which eased his mood a bit as well. We went to Golden Corral for dinner and as it was about half 6 there was a line but we were sitting down about 10 minutes later. We had the usual uneventful meal and after a quick stop in Publix we were back at the villa at about half 7. DH had gotten some very bad stomach cramps while we were in Publix so he chilled out while I watched the kids in the pool and for once they got on together so at least it was a nicer end to the day. They came back in and showered again but the bickering started so I packed them off to bed just before 10pm.
Tomorrow - Its another hot one so Typhoon Lagoon is on the cards.
