Thursday 2nd August

I woke at about half 6 again and quietly pottered about. DS was next up at 7 but I think he made himself get up early as he wanted to get to one of the new DS games before DD got it. She was up at half 7 and lastly DH at half 8.

The plan had been to go to Typhoon Lagoon today but it was already raining and while we’d be getting wet at TL we didn’t want to take any chances that the rain would turn stormy and we’d have to get out of the water. So I came up with a cunning new plan.

We’d got soaked at AK a few days ago the water had seeped into my camera bag and nearly ruined the camera so I needed a new bag. When we were in Vero DH bought a Crumpler 4 million dollar home camera bag at circuit city on clearance for $24. I’d decided that I wanted a smaller one for my camera and Circuit City had the 2 Million Dollar Home which was ideal. The only snag was it was only available in a shop 50 miles away. Never mind - a little drive is just what’s needed on a rainy day so after breakfast we set off north up the US-27 past Claremont to a place called The Villages.

It’s a retirement area for over 55’s so I think DH secretly wanted to check it out for future reference ;) The 27 was slow in places and I’m sure the road works don’t help if you were staying there and trying to get to Disney.

We got to The Villages in about an hour and I was pleased to see that as well as Circuit City, there was a Target, TK-Max and a few other stores. I had to laugh at the golf carts parked in the car park.

First up was Super Target for a rest room stop and then a mooch around. DD saw a Bratz that she didn’t have for $2.69 and it would have been rude not to buy it at that price. We bought a few other bits and bobs and only spent a modest $49. DH and I had a Starbucks coffee while DD had a pizza and DS had some cookies.

Next we went into TK-Max where DS picked a red Tommy Hillfiger sheet set for his new room for $19.99 - we saw the same set advertised in the Macy’s sale for $59.99. Finally we went into Circuit City where I got my camera bag which was now reduced to $10.49. Now that’s what I call a result - a Crumpler bag for £5.50.

We drove back to Orlando in the rain and I took a photo of the Citrus Tower.

We planned to stop at Chilis for lunch which was right by the huge Wal-Mart on the 27, we pulled in but the place wasn’t open yet and there were still workmen fitting it out. I popped into the Wal-Mart for a restroom stop and this one is huge - probably the biggest one I’ve seen. There were a lot of Brits here and there was a UK display of Beans, Tea-Bags and Robinson’s as you walked in the door.

It was getting on for 2pm so we stopped at the McD’s on the 192 then dropped our purchases off at the villa. It had eventually stopped raining which was one good bit of news. The next Simpsons Movie was sue to start at 3:45pm so we headed back out to DTD and found a parking space just as someone was just pulling out. There was a line for the cinema but we managed to get our tickets and went in a 3:30pm. The line for the sweets and drinks was huge but luckily we’d brought our own. We were in cinema 1, which had a balcony so we went up there. We managed to get 4 seats together but the place was busy and there were people coming up from downstairs looking for seats and then going back down again.

The movie was great and we were all laughing, DS said it was one of the funniest movies he’d ever seen and bearing in mind that he’d never even seen the Simpsons before today it was praise indeed.

One bonus of all the rain was that the humidity was down and it was a pleasant walk over to the Marketplace area. We stopped at the Lego store where DS blew a lot of his holiday money on 2 bits of Star Wars and 2 bits of Spongebob Lego, DD bought one of those tubs you fill yourself and a couple of grab bags. All in all we spent $206 and DS got enough stamps for a $10 gift voucher.

Next up was the Disney store were we bought some XL Pirate Crocs for DS, some Jibbitz for DD, a smaller purse to fit in my new camera bag and 3 pins. We got our 10% AP discount here, which was a bonus. We took a photo of this CM who was posing in her princess hat with her cat.

DH and DD went on to the pin trading store where they tried to get an AP pin I was looking for while DS and I stayed to pay for the stuff we’d bought. On the way to meet DH and DD we spotted some serious bling which could be yours for a mere $37,500 – plus tax of course

It was past 7pm and we were all tired by now so decided to make our way home. DH stopped at Subway where we got a foot long Tuna for him and I to share at the villa. I made pasta for DS but DD wasn’t hungry. She did eat some ice-cream later though. We chilled and watched some TV before bed at about half 9.

Tomorrow MGM with an ADR at Sci-Fi.

shopping - can't go wrong really. very nice castle!

Another great day. I love that shop at DTD that sells the crystal/glass stuff (not that I can afford to buy anything though :rotfl2: )
