Thursday 3rd August
Today was down as a chill day so we decided to go to the cinema. We usually go to the AMC at DTD but thought wed go to the one at Festival Bay for a change. I was up at 7 and caught up with the trip reports while waiting for the others to surface. DS was first and managed to fall down the stairs - he hurt his butt and his pride but a few cuddles soon sorted him out. DH was next - woken by the commotion on the stairs and DD got up about 8am. It was straight in the pool after breakfast ands we stayed there until half 10 when we got showered and ready for the cinema.
We took the I-4 and made the mistake of getting off at the beginning of I-Drive. The traffic was a nightmare and it took forever to get up past Wet and Wild. We made it to the Festival Bay with just enough time to get an ice-cream from the Stone Cold Creamery and it was lovely. The movie started at 11:50 and there were some great trailers for up and coming movies, which we hope to see at Christmas.
The theatre we were in was smaller than the one at AMC and not as plush although the seats reclined and it was $2 per person cheaper. We saw Cars and it was good - it lasted about 2 hours so we didnt get out of the cinema until just after 2pm. We had a look round the Mall and it still seems as empty of shops as when we last visited in 2004.
We stopped at the skate park and there were quite a few kids skating.
We then went to see if the Character Warehouse had any cheap Disney pins and noticed that they have started to demolish Mall 1 of the Mall formerly known as Beltz. It will be interesting to see what they do here as it has to be better than what was there already. There were some pins for $4.99 but none of the really cheap $1.99 & $2.99 pins that I have got on previous visits. I did get two baseball hats from my Dad.
We realised that we were all starving as we hadnt eaten since breakfast (the ice-cream doesnt count) so went to our favorite I-Drive eatery - Sweet Tomatoes. It was just before 4pm so it was still classed as lunch and the 4 of us ate for a total of $26.99. The salads were delicious and I then had a bowl of cheese and broccoli soup followed by a bowl of Sea Food Bisque soup. DD had the pizza and I asked the lady who cooks the fresh pasta if DS could have a couple of bowls of plain pasta. Normally they dont mind doing this but this lady was tutting and mumbling to herself about it. Desert was a brownie and frozen yogurt for me, frozen yogurt and various sprinkles for the kids and just about everything on the menu for DH
We left here stuffed and had planned to visit Michaels and Books a Million but the kids were very tired and almost fell asleep on the way home. We arrived back at around half 5 and their tiredness was forgotten as they raced to get into the pool.
They spent a good couple of hours there before coming in to watch some TV and we all went to bed around 9pm.
One thing Ive noticed on this trip is that apart from one day we havent had the usual afternoon rain and thunderstorms.
