Day 21 - MGM and Hollywood & Vine
We all had a bit of a lay in after the late night. I got up just before 8am and made some coffee and looked at the photos from yesterday. Most of the Wishes and Spectro ones were crap - oh well, I must read the camera manual to see which setting I should use. Everyone else got up eventually and once we had breakfast we went to Walgreens for some groceries. We got breakfast cereal, coke and some Cheetos that Im bringing back for a friend - honest.
On the way back from Walgreens DH dropped us off at the main pool and took the stuff back to the room. By the time he came back the slide was open and we were having a great time. We spent the morning by the pool and joined in the water balloon games. You had to throw and catch a water balloon with your partner and if it dropped and smashed you were out. Each time everyone made a successful catch you had to take a step back. DS and DD did well but there were some teenagers and their throw was longer so they won. Then it was the turn of the parents and these were huge water balloons. DH, the kids & I play with water balloons at home so we were ringers and after a fierce battle with the other parents we won. Just as the water balloons finished it started raining. DS & DD went swimming and I ordered our lunch, which we then ate under the shelter of an umbrella with the rain pelting down.
It stopped raining after about half an hour and the kids wanted to play shuffle board, we got the stuff but the course was waterlogged so it wasnt much of a game, we will have to try again tomorrow. We went back to the room and got showered and changed and headed out to MGM. First up was a spot of pin trading then it was off to the Indiana Jones stunt show which we hadnt seen before. It was better than I expected and we really enjoyed it. We got out of there just after 5pm and wandered over to check in for our Hollywood & Vine ADR stopping for some photos on the way.
The restaurant was booked solid and they were turning walk ins away. While we were waiting we took it in turns to look in the shops and I got a pair of sunglasses. The parade had started and just as we caught the glimpse of Mater and Lightning in the distance our pager went off and we had to go to dinner.
Hollywood & Vine was nice and we had a great dinner, there was plenty of choice and it all looked fresh. DS just had some beef and a couple of bowls of chocolate ice-cream but the rest of us tried a few of the dishes. This is another restaurant we would visit again. After dinner we made our way over to do the Great movie ride as this was also another one we hadnt done before. We really liked this ride and its another one you should try and see. When we had finished here DS and DD wanted to go on RnR roller coaster so I took them on and bailed out once they were in the car. It was a quick ride but they enjoyed it.
DD was getting tired and wanted to go in to wait for Fantasmic. We used the secret entrance and got there around 8:15pm. The general seating area was already packed and our area was about 2/3rds full. Id say if you didnt have a Fantasmic dining package youd need to be getting into the show no later than 8pm to get any chance of a decent seat.
There was still 45 minutes to go and DS was getting fed up waiting but we had our flashing light things and an attempt at the Mexican wave kept him going. The show started and it was good although I kept being distracted by the high Epcot fireworks that I could see in the distance.
We were at the back of the theatre so were able to make a reasonably quick getaway once the show was over. We got back to our bus stop and the bus was already there. The driver waited for about 5 minutes before leaving but the bus wasnt full. It was an uneventful journey except that the driver completely missed the entrance to OKW and had to go into POR to turn around and go back. We were back in the room and tucked up in bed by half 10.
Tomorrow - Kids Club and Le Cellier for DH & I
