I have seen Tink's flight from a distance and it was a wonderful surprise. My question- can you be too close. I have seen photos and I hate to say- if I got that view in person it would not have been as magical as the twinkly fairy that I saw flitting in the distance.

We will have 4 little princesses ages 5, 4, 4, and 3 and I want them to get a good view- but maybe not too good of a view- if you know what I mean. Where would be a good place for us?

I would like to know this as well, I have 2 DD's but DD6 is just absolutely mesmerized by Tinkerbell and I haven't told her about Tink flying during Wishes. She will just die when she sees her so the location is crucial. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!!!

Im going to WDW for the first time soon so my opinion may be of little use, but I've seen teh one in DLR many many times. There you can be as close as you like and it looks pretty much the same, really good. It only looks bad in DLR on some cam shots that are tightly zoomed in because you see a mess of rigging. You don't see that even if you're fairly close on the ground, you always see ropes but thats about it.

Again though, maybe you get closer or its a diff set up at WDW, if thats the case my thoughts could be for not.

In front of the castle...but not to close to the castle...and try to be towards the right side of the street (when facing the castle) try to be behind the central hub...
Tink's flight is amazing....

Tink flight is from the top of the castle and heads the the right (as you look head on of the castle) and flys over the walkway that takes you from the central hub into Tomorrowland. Tink usually lands on the roof of the Plaza pavilion.
You can see the wire so that you can gage how close or far away tou want to be from that area. For little ones though I don't think you have to worry about them knowing Tink isn't real. The costume is lit up with green lights and Tink comes down at a somewhat quick pace.
You would never catch me doing that and more power to the person that does.

You Know, we watched and waited and waited and watched to see Tink when we were there in Feb, and Tink never flew over. Do you know if weather has anything to do with Tink not flying? It was not windy or anything. We were kinda disappointed and we still wonder what this Tink business is about? :confused3

When I was at the MK back in June I was hustling over to Space Mountain during Wishes and happened to cut through the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station just as tink passed overhead to her "landing." I don't remember the view as being particularly less than magical, but for the full on effect it would probably be best to stand closer to the castle than tomorrowland.

I enjoy being directly infront of the castle. There is nothing like spending an evening in the Magic Kingdom than watching the parade and Wishes from that point of view.

Weather does come into effect as to when she will fly. It is not certain that she will fly every night just on special - magical ones. :goodvibes

I'm trying to remember, but doesn't Tink wear a witch costume during Hallowishes? Maybe that's just wishful thinking, but I could have sworn...

Anyway, when my brother was a CP in '99, he saw a funny Tink mishap during Fantasy in the Sky...

Tink got stuck about halfway from the castle to Tomorrowland, (I wish you could see the gestures to get the whole gist of it, but such are the limitations!), so Tink had to put her arms and legs up and kind of shimmy herself the rest of the way.

Honestly, Tink is so tiny I'm sure it didn't spoil anything for the kids, but my brother, a Skyway CP, got a real kick out of it.

Does anyone know if Tinkerbell flies during Hallowishes?

I heard there used to be a witch that flew over the fireworks of other MNSSHP, but we didn't see anyone fly when we were at the party last year.

And yes, weather does have an effect on Tink's flight. I forget the actual wind speed per hour we were told in the Keys to the Kingdom Tour (might be 10-15), but if winds are of a certain speed, she won't fly. In all my trips, I've only missed her flight once at WDW. On our first trip to DL this January, she (nor the rest of the fireworks) went on as planned one night due to winds.

Seems like tink was wearing an orange and black witch costume in Hallowishes a couple of years ago.

I've always liked to watch Tink's flight and Wishes from the bridge leading from the hub into Tomorrowland. Tink flies right above your head.

I talked to our guide about this on the keys tour this morning, and she said only 2 people can call off a flight, tink herself or the safety engineer and his only job is inspecting the wire. It was hit by lightning a couple weeks back and he ordered it replaced so she did not fly for a week. There is not a magic number for wind speed, it is just her own feelings on it. Tink ( there are 5-6 at any time) is at work for about 1.5 hours on her flight day, but is paid 8 hrs hazard pay, whether she flies or not, so that doesn't enter into her decision.

We had a great spot for Wishes last week. Right at the top of the steps leading down to that reserved area (with the tables w/the umbrellas) right before you get to Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station.

Tink flies very close to that spot and looks rather large (adult-size) from that vantage point. I told DD that the wire must have been to guide a magnifying glass down so Tink could be seen by the crowd! :teeth:

Here's a pic or two of the view of the castle from that spot:

That's where we saw her . She flew right over us. It was wonderful! We were close enough that we could see her waving at the crowd. No magic was ruined. Besides, she goes by so fast, you don't have time to look for harness' & ropes. Plus, your breath is taken away because you just had a brightly lite up fairy just fly over your head! :wizard: Sbella

Nope, never been able to get close enough to Tink. We DID however get close enough for empty shell fragments to drop on our heads from the Fireworks! YIKES! :teeth:

If you get up close near tomorrowland, you will see Tink actually wave. The only downside is that you then cannot see the fireworks properly.

We have been close before and couldn't tell anything about Tink except that she was waving to everyone.
