Tinkerbelle lamps and cancer warning??

I've gotten several lamps/light up things from Disney and the all have the same warning on them. The warning is not on the actual item, it's on the CORD that is attached to the item. I don't know if there is a coating on the cord or just what the deal is. I always wash my hands after touching the cords. For my 2 Tinker Bell lamps in my room, I have them plugged into an extension cord with a button on it--like cords used for Christmas trees. So, instead of touching the cords everytime I want to turn on the lamps, I just step on the little button-thingy and I have light.

Those warnings bother me--but obviously not enough NOT to buy them. :confused3

ETA: By the way, I have that exact lamp and it is SO cute!!!

Yes, it's the cord. The State of California requires that warning on all electrical items w/ cords sod there. I believe it's becasue there is a small amt of lead in the cord. I think it's also on the label on my George Foreman grill.

I've noticed that warning on several jewelry items on the Disney website when I've browsed in the past.

California passed a law that anything with even a small trace of lead has to have this warning on it. No other state has this. There really isn't anything to worry about, but if you do, just wash your hands after touching the cord.
