Does anyone know what "waking up Tinkerbell" means. I heard if you are first in a store at the magic kingdom your child can take part in this. What exactly do you do??

The store is called Tinkerbell's Treasures. It is located to the left of the castle if you are coming down Main Street. If you are the first one to the store when it opens, you can wake Tinkerbell up. It is really neat. My girls did it last trip. We were at MK by 7:00. It was Extra Magic Hours in the AM. We were actually the first ones at the gate. TOO EARLY!!!!
They stood in the line by Main Street ready to go. Another lady with a about 4 yr old came 10 min. before 8 when it opened. We were there so long just to do it. She also had about a 16-17 year old along. When the gates opened, the 16 year old took off running. So did my then 11 and 9 year olds. The 16 got there first followed by my guys. The older girl was "holding a place for the 4 year old". The lady at the shop let them do it all together. She did not think that was really fair. The other mom was mad but, I felt it was a fair compromise. Everyone got what they really wanted then. We each took pics and they all had the pleasure of doing it. This is what it does:
1. They give you a wand to use. You tap a box and say wake up TINK....
2. The box opens and you see lights go across the top of the ceiling and they go to a chest/drawers on the other side.
3. You can look in the chest and see Tink Inside.
4. They give you a certificate that you did it and it is signed by Peter Pan.
5. You can take pics with the wands and such up by the box.
It really is a fun and neat experience. Sorry to be so long and vent. First time I got it off my chest. My point though was, it is popular and you need to get there ASAP if you are going to do it. Good luck and have fun. :wizard:

Ok we did it and it was a minor thing but special to my dd. If you are the first one to ask at the main register "can I wake up Tinkerbell" You get to stand on a chair (if you are a child lol) and wave a magic wand tap a cute little treasure box three times and yell wake up Tinkerbell.then the little lights that are suppose to be tinkerbell get turned on and it looks like she is coming out of the box to fly around the room- but no real tinkerbell just the lights. Oh and it is a Magical Moments so you would also get a certificate saying that you woke up Tinkerbell on such and such a day. It was a cute thing to do but not incredible- my dd was a little bit surprised that she didn't get to actually "see" tinkerbell but she thought it was a fun thing to do. But we were the FIRST ones inside the store- This has become popular so if you have your heart set on it be sure you go straight to the store and head to the main register.
Hmm we didn't get to see tink in the box maybe she was missing that day? And if you look in the dresser all we saw was the bright light- in the keyhole on the dresser at the entrance to the store that is in Fantasyland.

It may seem minor, but if you have a family of tinknuts like me, wake up Tinkerbell. We almost got to do it once, but the pixie dust wasn't with us that day. Here's some to help you be the ones. pixiedust:

tatooed goofy, how rude of the other family to be upset that your girls were going to share the experience, especially after your girls waited so patiently!

I'm glad your girls got to do it, it sounds like a very cute little custom. :)

We've actually been lucky enough to wake Tink up twice. Once, we did the run through the park thing, and got to Fantasyland before they took the ropes down, so we were definitely the first people in the store that morning. The second time, though, was in early December -- off season -- and we just happened to waltz in on a whim about 1 hour AFTER opening, and no-one had asked to wake her up yet, so DD got to do it again! Talk about pixie dust! So, especially if it's off season and not as crowded, it can't hurt to ask.

We didn't get to see Tink in her box either, just the lights across the wall and ceiling. Good luck!

This is the first i've heard of waking up tink...but i so have to get to the park early and watch it one day....

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I would say not to waste your time on this. We tried to get my two boys to the store in time to do this when they were 3 and 4. We didn't run, but we really rushed. We completely missed the experience of enjoying the awe and wonder of seeing the castle for the first time in the morning. We made it to the store just in time to watch two little girls wake Tinkerbell, and it was a HUGE disappointment. Like the other poster said, a small box opens and you see some sparkling lights light up across the wall. It is all over with quickly and the boys both said, "Is that it?". You can actually look in the dresser drawer at any time in the store during the day and see her.

My advice is that unless you are a real Tink fanatic, skip this and enjoy Main Street on your way in.

This does sound like the cutest little custom but I LOVE WALKING DOWN MAIN STREET SO MUCH I could never rush. So I am with YOU!!!

:wizard: Tinkerbell's Treasures is a store on Main Street USA. If you go inside and ask to "wake up Tink", they might let you wake up Tink from her treasure chest. I, last time, was not one of the fortunate. I suppose it was because maybe I'm a little too old. I was 10. Maybe Tink wanted to be woken by a younger girl.

What is often involved in waking up Tinkerbell is over-sized children bodychecking toddlers while trying to be the 1st ones there. Apparently it is every "man/woman/or toddler" for him/herself. Unless you are prepared for a bit of aggressive "fun", I wouldn't bother. You can see Tink at the evening fireworks instead!
