Ok, I know I am thinking WAY in advance, but here is my dilemma:

My DD (who will be 4 in July) LOVES Tinkerbell. She has told me that when we go to Disney, this is the Character she most wants to meet. Um... what should I do? Can anyone help me think of a creative way to explain why Tinkerbell will not be available for a signature, let alone a photo op?

I was toying with the idea of finding some way to have a basket from Tink in the room when we arrived with a card saying she was sorry to miss us or something along those lines.

Has anyone ever dealt with this before? Any CM's here who can think of a fun idea?

Thank you,

Margaret

Tinkerbell is too small to hold a pen. The pen would crush her, not to mention getting trampled by strollers, ecvs, and people in general.

If you are the first person in Tinkerbell's Treasures store, you might get to wake her up. That might be a thought.

She has seen people who have posed for pictures with Jiminy Cricket, and knows that he is a tiny character too, so has asked why he can be seen and not Tink. (Did I mention she is too quick for her age? lol)

This is a tough one to explain. My niece wanted to see Tink SO bad when we were there, but I told her Tink is very busy flying through the parks sprinkling pixie dust and making sure all the children were having a magical time, so we might not get to meet her. Then I brought a vial of very fine purple glitter with me and every once in awhile would sprinkle it on her and tell say "Quick! Look! There goes Tink!" I also brought a couple small gifts and put them under her pillow at night with a sprinkling of the Pixie Dust. She was thrilled with this! When we got home she told her mom she didn't get to meet Tink, but it was ok because Tink is very, very busy at Disney World making everyone happy! :goodvibes

stumbled on this...we are going next summer and my youngest will be 10 at the time....loves Tinkerbell and we have been searching for a way to meet her.....this will be the first time for me to be there in over 20 years so I don't remember who or what is where....good to know to ease into the Tinkerbell isn't available now!!

this weekend at MK, when i was buying an $18 battery (yikes!) for my camera at the little shop to the right when you come through the gates (where you get strollers), I heard a cast member (named Cass) tell a little girl that tink will be there next year---he/she (sorry, not sure but that's not the point here) told the little girl that tink is a fairy and fairies are magical and with pixie dust, they can make themselves as big or as small as they want to be and she has finally agreed to come to DW to see some people and share her pixie dust next year...

When we went in April I took "Tinkerbell gifts" for DD4 and DS2. Every night (as long as they were good during the day) Tinkerbell would come and leave a small gift under their pillow. DD LOVED this and I really think it helped her try to behave and not fight w/ her brother. All we'd have to do was remind her about Tink coming and she'd shape up immediately! My parents came with us for the first few days of the trip and were absolutely amazed at how much the kids loved the Tinkerbell visits and how well behaved they were. This also "explained" why DD couldn't meet Tink because she is tiny and magical and is almost never actually seen :goodvibes

Most of the stuff I brought for DD was Disney princess themed with coordinating Nemo (or whatever more boyish) for DS. Some of the things I left were crayons and coloring books, light up pens, temporary tattoos, bandaids, PJs and one day I gave them "guest of honor" engraved name badges from MGM. It was a bit of a pain to pack this stuff but very well worth it. I also think it cut down on buying souvenirs for DD4.

Wow, you are all so creative! I had actually thought of having Tinkerbell bring a gift basket or something to the room with a note that she would see us, even if we could not see her. We then were thinking we could have one of those magical photos taken in the parks every day and tell her that if she cups her hands, we would not see Tinkerbell land, but she would be in the picture because the camera was a special camera. (And then ask the photographer to do the computer addition of Tink in the pic, as I read they can do.)

I like the whole: gift in the room with pixie dust. We will be going with DD4, DD almost 2 and my mother, so with three adults, I would think we could occasionally sneak to the room upon arrival back to the resort and set it un for the kids to discover. :)

I also like the idea of randomly sprinkling some pixie dust and pointing to the sky. That sounds like it would be so fun for her!

Well gee, too bad Tink is not coming until next year. :( Guess we will have to look for her next time we manage to make it there. I can only hope she still likes her in a few years, lol.

Great ideas, keep em coming, I know we all can use the creative inspiration!

Thanks for the info!! I hope this is true My dd is a huge Tink fan too!! She would love to see her for a photo op!

To the OP - when you are at MK you can ask one of the photographers to take a pic of your DD with her hands out in front of her - You can check the pic out later inthe day at the park and Tink will magically appear in your DD's hand in the pic. Also there is a shop called Tinkerbell's Treasures in Fantasyland - ask a CM there were the dresser is to see Tink - If you look through the keyhole on the dresser sometimes you can get a glimpse of Tink. :flower:

make sure when you are having your pic in front of the magic kingdom with your hands out that they take a few of them---especially if you're telling dd that she'll be in the pic...ours didn't come out---the others from in front of mk did but that one didn't---just a thought (it was actually ok because i have 2 boys ages 2 and 4 and right now, girls are ewwww.....) ---yep, had to go AROUND the castle because yucky princess girl lives there :rotfl: ---haha! i made my own solo trip and enjoyed it!
have a good time!

What a great idea! I wonder if it will work for 2 six-year old cousins. Hmmm ....

This is from another thread. I loved the idea. Read through some of these threads going back a couple of pages. There are some really need ideas.

Here's a special note some of you Tink fans may like.
At our house, the tooth fairy leaves very, very tiny handwritten notes. Tinkerbell would surely leave these too! The kids think they are the coolest. DD showed a friend's DD her note and my friend's daughter, who is 16!, whispered to her mom "how did they do that?" so it should work for older kids that might be getting skeptical of the magic.

You just write your note on the computer in the smallest type available and use a handwritten looking font. Mix a tiny bit of white glue with water and some fine glitter and brush it over the paper. After that dries, cut the note out. It should be a small square - maybe 1" x 1". Roll it up like a scroll and you're ready. These turn out really cute. A little extra glitter on the windowsill will add some magic.

I love this idea. Thanks for sharing.....

Have you heard about "waking Tinkerbell"? The first child to arrive at the store Tinkerbelle's Treasures (it's just behind the castle and to the left) can ask to wake Tink. The child gets a wand to hit a box :wizard: and yell "wake up Tinkerbell!" and there will be a twinkling sound and lights that go all around the store and finally she goes into a bureau. If you look in the key hole you can see her. I would run to the store as soon as the park opens and let her wake TInk, she'll get a certificate and sparkly Tink stickers. Then you can "show" her just how fast Tink is and how hard to catch, that's why you can never find her in the parks. My DD did this last year and it was adorable. And it's one of the few free things in the park LOL!

have a good time!

That's funny! I was telling DS3 that we are having breakfast with Cinderella and Prince charming in WDW and he said he didn't like Cinderella...who else will be there?" When I told him all of the princesses he said "eeeeewww! I don't like princesses" I told him that his cousin (7) would be there and we had to go for her. He said "Fine....I will." as if I was asking him to eat lima beans!

I love the idea of the tiny note. I will definately be doing that one!

Thanks everyone, you are all so creative, lol.

The one about the note is really cute. :) I'm 13 and I'm not a HUGE fan but I love Tinkerbell. I would love someone doing that to me. And if my friend Amy goes....she's absolutly in LOVE with Tinkerbell. :earboy2: I think that is a cute thing to do to them...They would love it :teeth:

Hey! I'm famous! Well, as close as I'll ever get anyway. LOL
Thanks Heather for giving me credit. That was very nice of you.
(Although I'm sure the idea originally came from Family Fun mag or somewhere like it. )

We got to do this with DD4 on our last trip. I knew we were going to try this, so I made up a little note "from" Tinkerbell and left it and a pair of new Tink p.j.'s on her bed that night. The note said, "Since you 'woke me up' this morning, I will 'tuck you in' tonight." She loved it! I had a different note ready in case she didn't get to wake Tink. It said, "I'm sorry I was already awake this morning. Let me 'tuck you in' tonight." DD still talks about it everytime she wears those jammies! :sunny: :confused3
