We are moving my daughter into a room alone (she has been in the same room with her brothers since they were all born). She'll be 3 in May. She (and Mommy :) ) would like a tinkerbell room. DH and I painted the room pink this weekend. My cousin, who is a very talented artist, is going to come and paint a 10 X 13 size flying tink on the wall for me. I would like to have pixie dust coming from the wand and around the wall tink will be painted on. Any suggestions for how to do this (keeping in mind that eventually, when my daughter gets older, tinkerbell and her pixie dust will need to be removed)?

Any other suggestions to make the room special? I have been considering getting one of those hang from the ceiling bed canopies. Abby is still in a toddler bed and will keep the pottery barn kids bedding (green/pink/yellow) she has until we move her into a twin bed in a year - so I am not going to do anything with bedding right now.

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks.:flower3:

They have a really cute tink ceiling fan for like 75$ at Lowe's home improvement store. My daughter has a tink room too. We did the wall in lavender and the ceiling in dark purple (tink colors from home depot) we took the closet doors off and put curtains there with the curtain beads. It looks awesome and we put tye backs on the sides for when you need to get in the closet. For the pixie dust idea...you may want to consider silver/grey paint. I wouldn't do glitter or anything that would be hard to remove.

You can use that diamond dust stuff. Its usually used with plaster craft paintings. Its VERY fine and as long as it is sprinkled over the paint sparingly it can be painted over with minimal texture - and it sparkles like crazy!

i think paint with some sparkle would be cool....you already have a BRIGHT color on the wall that, if you try to cover will require several coats anyway.

have you checked out the Fairies books...thats Tinks home,,,that could give you some ideas??

you could really have some fun with this!!

DD3 has a Tinkerbell/Disney Princess bedroom and DH made a "fairy garden" for the top of her dresser shelves. He used floral foam, spring flowers, butterflies, etc. and sprayed the entire thing with glitter spray! It is SO cute!

lowes has a whole line of fairy/tinkerbell decorations. I put up a flowery wall border in my dd room .. w/ flying faires everywhere. I had a bed canopy but she kept pulling it down so i took it down for now.

For the pixie dust, I would draw lines w/ glue where you want the dust (i.e. spraying out from her wand in lines), then blow some of this on the wall:

http://www.discountschoolsupply.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?product=3687 in the silver color - it's a combination of some glitter, but mostly bigger specks. So when it's time to change, it should all come off with a light sanding. It would be more 3D, more textural than just glitter paint.

Have fun decorating!

Thank goodness for all of you creative people!!! You have given me many good ideas.
