Tink Talks-Confessions of a Walt Disney World College Program Cast Member

oh no! Getting lost is never fun! I still haven't caved and bought a GPS thing...but I swear each time I get lost that I'm going to buy one! I'm glad it all worked out ok.

Hope the new shoes make your feet feel better too:goodvibes

Hi everyone!

I forgot where I left off!

Okay, on Saturday I had my last day of training, it was a tour of PO. I had never seen the resorts before and I really liked both of them! I think I liked POFQ a little more! Then after that me and my roomies and I went to Epcot where we drank around the world!:rotfl: Then a fellow Diser (HelloKitty86) sent me a text message saying she had arrived in Ft Lauderdale and we decided that I would go down and visit her! On Sunday I drove over there and we had a great time! We watched a movie and went to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. I was so sad when I left yesterday. :( I got lost when I arrived in Orlando, I took I-4 east instead of west like I should have. It was horrible! I was crying because I didn't know where I was going, but then turned around and finally made it back to the apartment. It took a good hour out of my day.

Today was my first day without a trainer. I was putting out stock and giving people lunch breaks. It was a good day. I recieved my shoes today so hopefully my feet will feel better soon!

Joanna- I met Rachael today!

Oh no! I know what it's like to get lost. I've done it, and it's not fun.

yay! That's great!

Oh no!! Getting lost is def. not fun!! We've all been there before! Good to hear you got your new shoes!

I will be in Disney World in 2 weeks!!

Nicole: I'm so sorry to hear that you got lost! When I went to college at UCF, I went to Lollapalooza a few days before school started, I think it was the day after I moved there. Well I got lost and made it 1/2 way to Tampa before I realized I was nowhere near the fairgrounds! I hadn't realized there were so many highways and my mom gave me HORRIBLE directions (she just said "Get on the highway and keep going until you see the signs) and I missed a good chunk of the concert and had to stop in the middle of nowhere to ask for directions a bunch of times. It was awful! I'm glad you found your way back though and are enjoying your work.

Sounds like you had a great time with Ash & family. Hopefully your new shoes will feel great.

Hello Everyone! I'm new to this Forum, but I applied to the College Program in the Fall, and I should be hearing from them in about 2-3 weeks...anyways, I'm so glad I found a thread where I could actually read someone's day to day experiences on the program!

Nicole, I was just wondering, apart from working in merchandise, are you also taking classes? (I know that a couple of courses are offered for college credit as well as the Disney exploration series) Are you taking any of these?

I see that you drove from where you lived to WDW, how far did you have to drive? Do you ever use the bus transportation provided? If so, how reliable is it?

Thanks so much for documenting your experience!

You might be homesick...but you're making me CP sick.....if that makes any sense! I did the CP in 2001...wow almost seven years ago! I loved every minute of it!

Ooo, that's awsome! I may see you down there, because I applied to go down for the summer.

I took the Hospitality Management class in 2005. It was really interesting.

I have only used the buses. They are alright. They get you to where you need to go, but if you can bring a car I HIGHLY recommend it.

Same here! I was 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Me four, lol. I was a Spring CP in 2000. This is fun getting to relive some of those memories again :D Thanks for the report - I'll definitely be back to read more. I really miss my CP days! :D

I was spring 2000 too! I was over at the Yacht Club :)

Could you PM me about how the College Program works? I have a son graduating soon, and I wonder if her would be interested in this.

Awesome! Yeah....I'd be scheduled to leave at the end of August if I got accepted. I really hope my parents would be OK letting me drive all the way from California to Florida...it seems as if having a car would be much more convenient...but it seems as the bus transportation is pretty reliable. I was thinking of taking that class, but I think Human Resources Management would be more applicable to what I'm studying at school. Were you able to get credit through your school for participating in the program?

Also, Nicole? How did you deal with your University to get credit? (If your receiving it...)

Yes I was. I got credit for 2 of my CPs.

Hi, Nicole!!

I can't wait to hear more about your work!!
How are the new shoes doing?

Sorry you got lost coming back from Ashley's.

Well, today was my first dat at POR and I really liked it! I was a greeter for a few hours handing out Mardi Gras beads and talking to people and then I was doing Magical Moments, asking people Disney trivia and giving them certificates. I really enjoyed doing the Magical Moments alot. I am really shy and quiet so this day sort of made me come out of my shell and talk to people. Tomorrow I train on the register, I'm a little nervous! The backstage area at POR is soooo cute! It's all done up Mardi Gras theme, so cute!

Aww, the Magical Moments sound like so much fun!! I would probably like doing that. :) I thought of doing the CP this semester but decided not to. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking not doing it but oh well! I'm sorry you are homesick (that is what I would worry about :guilty: )...I hope you start feeling more at home soon! Can't wait to hear more about your experiences. :thumbsup2

What a fantastic experience!

We will be staying at POFQ in Oct., but my guess is that you will be gone by then, or we would love to come and say "Hello"!
