Well D-Day is finally here and its my last trip to work for what seems like ages. Its a wonderful feeling going to work, knowing that its your last day for a while, puts a spring in your step and you feel full of the joys of spring. Now, my colleagues have been counting down with me on a day-by-day basis so I think that they all breathed a sigh of relief when this day came.
I had been completely stressing out about the snow as the week before flights were cancelled and delayed and I didnt want this to happen to us, so I was just so happy today as the snow had stayed away.
I did online check in with Virgin and it was a breeze, just took a couple of minutes and the day went very quickly. At 16.15 I was on my way home to pack as everything was ready, I just had to pop it into the suitcase.
At 8pm my sis, brother in law, neph and niece picked me up and we were on our way to the Hilton at Gatwick. When we left Windsor there was no snow, but as we got nearer to Gatwick we could see the piles of snow on the sides of the roads and could understand the reason behind Gatwick closing the week before.
The journey took 45 mins (Windsor to Gatwick) and was really easy not many times you can say this about the M25! We arrived at the Hilton and went to our room, which was in the new bit of the hotel, but a bit of a walk from the main reception to say the least.
We stayed in a deluxe room, but to be honest the room was incredibly basic, at least it was clean. There was no shower cap and they have definitely cut down on the toiletries since the last time we stayed there. We were asleep by 10.30, just willing tomorrow to arrive.
