Timeshares presentations? Silver Lake

I've just planned and priced a 7 night trip in January for our family of 5 - we want to go to Disney 3 days, LL 1 day and Universal 1 day. The $ came to more than I thought so I've been looking at possibly doing a timeshare presentation.

Has anyone stayed at and done a presentation with Silver Lake? We did one with Vistana 3 years ago and wouldn't go back. The room they gave us was cramped for the 5 of us (1 bedroom with sofa bed). Are there other resorts near there that are worth the presentation?

Also, given the time of year (3rd week of Jan) is it necessary to get the extra hour in the morning for the day at Universal by staying at one of their hotels one night, or with crowds low will it be ok? (I hope...)

We did do a timeshare speech with Silver Lake Resort once- but it was about 8-9 years ago. There was a nice free breakfast buffet before the spiel, and it lasted about 2-3 hours. We got two 2 day tix to UO and two tix to Arabian Nights dinner theater afterwards. We requested and received a one bedroom overlooking pool. It was very nice, updated, clean, had laundry in bathroom, separate Jacuzzi tub and shower, balcony, full kitchen.

That was quite some time ago though. Hope someone else chimes in.

The easiest way to save money is to either do all five days at Disney, or all five days at "not Disney." Trying to combine the two, buying five tickets, is pricey. Unless this is your only trip for a very long time, make this trip one and the next trip the other.

That would be much much more pleasant than a timeshare presentation, which I think of as only slightly more pleasurable than water-boarding.

I don't mind going to timeshare presentations and got $200 in AMEX cards plus a $50 GC to a local restaurant chain in Myrtle Beach from the Wyndham we stayed at in July.

We booked our room super cheap through an owner on Ebay - I don't like booking rooms through a timeshare deal. You pay just as much for the room and still have to go on a tour. You are also at the mercy of them placing you at another resort.

We are staying October 16-23 for $279 total in a 2/2 at Summer Bay. I bought a vacation certificate on Sky Auction and then booked my room. There will be plenty of availability for several nice timeshare resorts in Orlando for January. You just have to wait until closer to your arrival to book. This way you know where you are staying.

You can also go here and pay a little more, but there is availability in January and you can go ahead and book.

We aren't planning a trip to the parks but if the promotions are good enough I am willing to sit through 2 or even 3 tours for tickets or gift cards. We bring our DS4 and let them know upfront how cheap we are paying for our room and we won't be purchasing. Our tour in July was under an hour and included breakfast (sausage biscuits, juice and other pastries). It was also on site so it didn't waste any real time - we just woke up a little earlier and showed up in our bathing suits :thumbsup2. Don't worry, my husband wore a tshirt and I had on a cover up.

I just wish I knew what was being offered for tours in Orlando right now. If I knew I could get the 3 of us 2 days in the parks I would go ahead and try to make dining reservations.

The quoted poster is correct though. It's so much more expensive to do Disney and Universal in the same trip.
