Timeshare Rental

No, you'd want to look on the Rent Trade board. Be sure to read the stickys before posting so you understand the rules.

there is a rent/trade board which offers rental by individuals (not disney) for onsite timeshare resorts. you need to be signed in to see it. please read the FAQ as there are several rules specific to that area.

since DVC is a timeshare, be aware that you do not get daily mousekeeping when booking through an owner. you may not get any sort of cancellation policy. studios except for OKW include 1 queen bed and 1 pullout sofabed - OKW studios have 2 queens.

the other thing about DVC being a timeshare is that owners often book early - 10-11 months in advance. if you start looking 4-5 months out, availability may be very limited. sometimes owners won't respond to you as you are not asking a reasonable question.

it's getting a little dated but this thread is still a good place to start to learn more about renting from an owner:

Thanks for the replies. My family is planning to visit WDW this year, 4 adults and 3 kids. Need to determine if buying points and tickets seperately would be better than booking a package though WDW. Any suggestions?

There is no question that you can get a great DVC villa more economically by renting a reservation (points are of no value except to a DVC member who makes the reservation) from a DVC member. Tickets won't be much different wherever you purchase them (direct from Disney or from a ticket broker).

Once you recognize the economics and recognize the differences (no daily housekeeping, less generous cancellation policy, no control over the details of the reservation until arrival, etc.) you can make an informed decision about which will be more appealing to you.

I'd read thru the suggestions in the links provided and also those at the top of the DVC Rent/Trade Board and educate yourself on what the package would cost thru Disney directly and what cost difference you would find from a DVC member. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here on the DVC Boards as the Rent/Trade is not a discussion board.

Good luck with your decision. :)

You mention DVC villa. Can I only rent villas from a DVC members? What if I wanted to use points for the Disney's All-Star Music Resort Family Suite? Also, where can I find out how points are needed for a particular resort?

No you would book directly with Disney for the non-DVC resorts.

DVC point charts are in a link at the top of the page.

Using points to stay at a non-DVC resort is a poor value. Nightly costs are surprisingly high plus you pay a $95 reservation fee when you use points for a non-DVC WDW resort. You can get a DVC villa for less points per night than the moderate rooms cost (in points).

The value resorts are not available for points.

You can find a link to the point charts for the DVC resorts at the top of the page.
