Hey gang -

We're using our new BLT add-on points (squee!) for the first time next month.

It's been a long time (about 28 years to be exact ) since I've stayed at the Contemporary Resort, but I remember vividly walking the path to the park instead of taking the monorail.

How long would you say the walk is going to be to MK from BLT? Guesses?

this doesn't include time spent watching bunnies, staring up at monorail, or laughing at all the folks waiting for the buses as you walk by!

It's farther than some people realize - about 1/2 mile from front door to bag-check. I'm guessing at least 10 minutes for most people...

Don't forget about reading all the memory tiles on the walkway!:rotfl:

We walked it last month. It's about 8-10 minutes to walk because of the crosswalk and the curve the path takes.

You walked from Contemporary? That's a bit farther than BLT, right?

Not much difference in distance since BLT sits back a ways. Waiting to get a crossing signal at the main road is a big variable; I have waited there 3 minutes alone (I have seen people cross against the light, and almost get hit so be careful).

I'm dying over here! :rotfl:

We actually did this walk last week from MK to the Contemporary. Took less than 10 minutes and we were by no means rushing.

We did it in about 4 minutes from the Contemporary when I was 11. Of course, we were sort of sprinting. And, you know, 11.

We'll aim for 10. :cool1:

This is when I miss Caskbill the most - we would have the distance and time by now.

I'd say it's about 1/2 mile and about a 7 to 10 minute walk.

Google Earth shows it about the same from MK entrance to Splash, as MK entrance to BLT-for a rough idea.

Here is an overhead map that shows the walkway from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom, so if you picture where Bay Lake Tower is located you can get a sense of how long it should take.

I made an attempt at walking to CR from MK on this last trip in June, to see if I could do it. I bailed out, but then, I'm pushing 65 and use a cane part-time because of an occasionally creaky hip. I tried it before I got exhausted at the end of the visit that day but I started from inside the park, so had already walked a fair amount down Main Street, through the plaza and gate, etc. turned left onto the path. Went a ways and realized it wasn't going to work for me; turned back and went over to the bus stop -- so now I know there is NO bus to CR from MK. Sometimes even getting up the ramp to the monorail takes me a long time. So, I know that if it was late and I was tired, I'd never make it back in the evening -- so no Add-onitis for BLT for me!!!! (And I don't like the layout of the studio anyway). I can make it to the resort bus area because it's flat, and the route to BLT is flat, but it was too far for me (although I do that much walking in the park, but not all at once). I expect getting to MK from CR first thing in the day would be doable, but it's a different story getting back later

Hi mecllap,

Did you know there is a boat that goes from MK to the Contemporary? Its dock is next to the Ferry's more to the right if you are looking at the dock area from the security bag check.

They are little things, compared to the big Ferry, and you can't take a scooter on them, but they do run all day long.

They are nice change from the Ferry, Bus and Monorail.

Just out of curiosity, for those who have done both, how does the walk from the CR/BLT to the MK compare to say, the Beach Club lobby to the Int'l Gateway entrance at Epcot?

I'm laughing at this. We are staying at BLT Labor Day weekend on a cash reservation. I already have my brick number ready, with my toothbrush, so I can do some cleaning on C07XXX. Its right under the monorail on the way to MK.
The first time we tried to find the brick, in the dark, with a flashlight we were stopped by the security guard. He laughed when we told him we were trying to find our brick.

There are no boats from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary, because guests can either walk back or take the Resort Monorail and after the Resort Monorail leaves the Magic Kingdom the Contemporary is the very next stop.
