I'm flying into the Sanford/Orlando Airport at 7:10pm on a Thursday. I need to get a rental car from the airport.

How long does it take to get a rental car usually?

How long does it take to get from that particular airport to Islands of Adventure?

I ask because my husband and our 2 daughters will be down there for a cheer competition. I couldn't get that much time off work, which is why I'm having to fly down 2 days later. Islands of Adventure is going to be open ONLY for the football players, cheerleaders and their families from 7-11 that night (We are with AmericanYouthFootball/AmericanYouthCheer). I've never been to IOA and REALLY want to go. Since it won't be extremely crowded, do you think it would be a waste of money for me to go for just 2 hours (I'm guessing on getting there around 9pm if the flight isn't late and it doesn't take long to get a car). The tickets are less than $40 for the event. I was told that in the past, lines were never more than 5-10 minutes long during the event.

WWYD?

Not sure about how long for the car, as we usually take a towncar when we fly into Sanford, but the drive time from that airport to Universal is approximately 50 minutes depending on how fast you drive.;)

Don't know if I would go for only 2 hours, I guess you could do a few things if the lines are that short!

The good thing is you'll be missing rush hour traffic if you land at 7:10pm but you still might have traffic concerns. Sanford is on the other side of Orlando and I-4 is about your only choice to get into town. I wouldn't plan on arriving at IOA much before 9pm or so. Hopefully you won't run into any traffic but delays could happen at any time.

I'd definitely go. It is really, really special there at night and with such low crowds you would have a very neat experience.
