Time to get from Polynesian's Beach to 'Ohana?

Hi,

We have a 9:20pm reservation at 'Ohana but we want to see the fireworks from the beach (would prefer to score a 8pm 'Ohana ADR and watch from inside, but that is not happening). I understand there is a 15 minute grace period for ADRs. If we left the beach at 9:20pm, could we make it up to 'Ohana in 10 minutes or less.

Thanks in advance!

following ..same question, different direction :) ....----.we have a 7pm adr & I need to know how much time to allow to get down to the beach to watch the fireworks. :)

There is no guaranteed grace period for ADRs. So don't count on that 15 minutes and plan to arrive on time. They are within their right to turn you away.

Ymmv but I would personally be comfortable with your timeframe. Restaurants are pretty accommodating and 5-10 mins is not particularly late. I would be prepared to wait though as I am sure they get an influx of ppl right after fireworks.

I can't imagine it would take more than five minutes to get from Ohana to the beach (and vice versa). You literally just walk down the stairs and out the back door and it's a short walk down the path to the beach.

Thank you New Castle and Elaine Amj for your replies.

Somehow, I also knew it goes without saying that I would get a reply with a comment on the acceptability or not of running late for an ADR. :sad2:

HEA ends at 9:18 (assuming fireworks are at 9:00PM), it'll take all of 3-5 mins to walk to Ohana, if that. You could be there in 1-2 if you tried. I think you're good. Ohana tends to run terribly behind so you'll probably still be waiting awhile.

FWIW, I would NOT want to move to an earlier time to watch HEA from Ohana. You could easily be away from the windows and not have any view at all.

Ooooh good point. I think I kind of blindly assumed, I would have a good view from within Ohana.

I don't think that anyone is commenting on a late arrival being acceptable. What we want to warn is that there is no guarantee that a late arrival for an ADR will be honored, and in the event it is not, your family will be turned away and you get charged the no show fee.

There is never any guarantees in life, is there? I asked one question and that is the information that I was looking for, not a commentary on being late for ADRs.

The original question has now been asked and answered by others. Nothing more needs to be added here.

I beg to differ. You are content with the answer you got. That may be fine for you, but the fact remains that many others read these boards and look for feedback based on questions that are asked here. I am not passing judgement that you wanted validation you could make and keep an adr that you arrive late for. Personally, I dont care if the restaurant honors your ADR, refuses you, or forgives or charges the no show fee once you have the info you need to make an informed decision. I would care if one of us did not provide complete information. I feel that once a post like this is started we should at least provide the warning. Recieving information yuo do not want is part of posting on a message board.

I wonder how mad the OP would have been at posters if they show up late to their ADR, are turned away, and no one here had told them it was a possibility.

The grace period is not written in stone. As long as you know that and accept it (and the possibility of being charged the per person fee) then all is good. You should be fine. Wanting you to be aware of that is nothing to get snippy with another poster over. Everyone here has good intentions.

Are we done here yet or is there someone else that wants to add there noble opinion.

We are all adults and we can make decisions and the consequences that come with those for ourselves. If I was concerned with being late for the ADR , I would have asked. Not shown up and been late and then turned away and wondered why someone else didn't tell me not to do it. Makes absolute no sense. But ummm thanks for your deepest concern over my ADR.

Just like the other poster, trying to make sure you have all of the information, and are making a decision taking it all into consideration. And making sure anyone who is simply reading this post has all of the information as well. No one has insulted you, everyone is trying to help. Not sure why you are having such a negative response to people who want to make sure you know everything ahead of time.

My goodness! Are you always so nasty? I will repeat. You can do what you want. No one here has a dog in your race, but we have tried to be helpful. You do what you will, but if you choose to ask questions here you need to understand that those who take the time to answer recognize that you may not appreciate complete information, but there are others who will. We are answering your question accurately so other people who are reading will not be misled.

Far from it. But since the 1st poster made the point about just trying to make sure all the information was communicated nothing new has been added here other than the additional posters needing to come in here and claim their innocent intents while saying what has already been said a few different times.

So what more needs to be said? but yet, you keep coming in and saying the same thing over and over.

You didn't seem to be getting it, so I was trying to clarify. The info posted here is not only for the Original Poster, but for others who may be reading looking for the same or similar information. No one is attacking you, only trying to make sure everyone gets a clear view of what can happen. Making sure all of the possibilities are out there so everyone can make informed decisions is not a bad thing. Nor is it some slight against you.

If you find nothing more of worth in this thread, the stop reading. It is that simple.
