Time for the big "Family Meeting"

We are planning our Oct. trip to WDW. Upon starting our plans, we mentioned to several family members our plans and invited them to join us. So on Sat. all 22 of us, yes the number SO FAR is 22 , are meeting to discuss the trip. Although I'm the "totally obsessed over-the-top planner", I have made it clear everyone is on their own planning their days. HOWEVER, I am presenting (yes a presentation of sorts, with menus and all) OUR dining plans and if anyone wants to join us, I will include them in our ADR's. Have I COMPLETELY lost my mind? These people are NOT planners. They're the "Oh whatever you guys want to do" kind of people that turn on you at the last second. Oh, well, we are all excited and I'm sure all will go well.

I planned a trip for 17 in 2003 (before Grand Gatherings). I did all of the planning for everyone - all meals, where we were going, all hotel reservations, etc. Our group did not want to seperate for anything. All in all everything worked out great - but I would not travel in a pack like that again. I would try for a couple of group dinners or breakfasts and let everyone else go their merry way. Of course we're going back this November with a group of 13 and I'm doing all of the planning again - lol! I really don't mind it, but there will be some seperation this time. Make sure everyone books using Grand Gatherings and they will print out everyone itnerary when they check in. Have Fun!

We are making it very clear to everyone involved that I am only making reservations for dinners that we all want to eat together, they're on their own for everything else! I couldn't imagine trying to plan EVERYTHING for them! Kudos to those of you that have done that! We just found out last night that a young couple wants to go, and the exciting thing is, THEY'VE NEVER BEEN TO DISNEY!! How exciting is that? I hope they do come, they'll be at the meeting too! I'll let you all know how it goes!

Well, the meeting, well actually the cookout, went really well! We discussed all the issues at hand, and everyone was really excited! I called disney and we are going to book as a Grand Gathering. The CM called me the "director" of the trip and said for me to resrve a block of rooms so that we can all be close together. I should be officially booking this week!
