I am leaving in four weeks to go for a long weekend with my mom for Food and Wine so trying to get my Disney fix by reading trip reports!

Great update!!! Wow...you got a lot done for a summer morning! Splash Mountain is my fav too! Can't wait to see all about pirates league...I didn't even know they did a mermaid!!! How cool1!

We always manage to get a lot done in the mornings. LOVE Splash! They only did the mermaid for a limited time after the release of the new Pirates movie, wish they did it all the time!

Great updates! I hope Luke lasts through his appointment, I'm looking forward to hearing all about it. I have wanted to do that for Henry too, but just haven't booked it yet.

Concierge at AKL looks amazing! We had it booked once, but we had to cancel that trip. I'm sure it made someone very happy, the dates were over this past NYE!! (so INCREDIBLY expensive in points!) I hope to book it again sometime. I'd be right there with you in the lounge eating those chocolate covered strawberries.

I've been away for awhile but I'm back. Wow!!! What a wonderful vacation so far. Just came back a few weeks ago and I miss it already. Reading your TR is almost just as good as being there. I love all your pics, especially the ones of the kids and Tim.

Wow, what a busy day. Y'all got so much done so quickly! I too LOVE the pics of the kids together and in combinations with you and Tim. They are growing up so fast, but they are so sweet!

We really did get a lot done quickly that day it was a great day. They are growing up SOOOO fast!

It's crazy how you could feel sick at Disney, but the magic can just keep you going. I sure hope Luke makes it through the rest of the day!!

So when I last left you we made our way to the Pirates League:

The kids were thrilled and so were Tim and I to see how this would work, so we headed inside:

The theming inside was great and the CM’s were very nice. They invited Luke and Lauren over to spin the wheel to receive their pirate names:

The mermaid makeover for lauren was a limited time deal and both kids makeovers were only $29.99
After they got their new names we headed inside to the VERY crowded waiting area and watched others get made over:

At first Luke just wanted a basic makeover with a scruffy beard and scratch on his face but as we sat there he watched another boy getting the full skeleton type pirate makeover (looks like Johnny from the Karate kid : ) and he changed his mind. We waited about 30 minutes they were called. Lauren was nervous once inside with all the “pirate” antics and she didn’t want to get a guy to do the makeover, so she was a little nervous when she was called over by a guy. Both kids hopped into their chairs to begin:

Luke’s CM was a cute kid and very nice to Luke and was a great CM but Lauren’s CM was off the charts AMAZING!!!!

He talked to her the ENTIRE time as if she was a real mermaid and asked her the funniest questions about how she can breathe above the water, what was her favorite color and food as a mermaid, he stayed in character the whole time and it was such a wonderful experience, she just ate it up.
Here he was doing her nails (as you can see she’s listening to him the whole time and he didn’t stop talking the whole time, they were a great match : )

Time for Luke’s makeup experience to begin, it was such fun watching the transformation:

Lauren also got “scales” painted on her face, eye gems and mermaid makeup:

Luke’s transformation continued, he was loving it:

Then they gave Luke the pirate oath:

Do you see the lady behind Luke in the chair getting made over. I am not kidding when I say she was in that chair over an HOUR. she kept taking pictures of herself with her cell phone and then complaining and having the poor lady re do it over and over and over and over again, it was SO weird!!! O.K, I digress...........

I barely recognized him:

Lauren was busy getting the finishing touches on her package (lip gloss time):

After they both were “sworn in” they were led to the back room where they were given sashes:

Luke was given a sword too:

Then they took us in a back secret room that you aren’t allowed to photograph, Luke was given treasure “ a medallion” and they took a great picture of each child, it was a cool experience. When we came out they promised Lauren they had treasure for mermaids too, she got an OPI nail polish package, it was SO nice:

At this point poor Luke had hit the wall again and wasn’t feeling good, so we headed back to the hotel, which kinda stunk because he was really looking forward to the possibility of marching in the kids parade (they have a parade all made over kids can march in each day). Every year that Lauren has had a Bippety Boppety Botique makeover he hated all of the attention she gets so he was thrilled to have the opportunity to “show off” his pirate look, but he was feeling so lousy he’d rather go back to the hotel to reset, so back we went.

We came back to the room and I could already tell Luke was feeling warm. We all laid down and rested for a few hours before getting ready for our Jiko dinner. The kids were ready for dinner:

We were all REALLY looking forward to this meal. Tim and I have had 2 AMAZING meals here and it’s always been one of our favorites. We had talked it up like crazy to the kids and they were thrilled to try it too so we were willing to use the 2 credits per person for the meal. We were at Jiko in no time:

The restaurant is SO beautiful!

Tim and I both ordered the filet with macaroni and cheese, so did Luke. Lauren ordered chicken off of the kids menu. The food came out and my steak was excellent and so was the mac and cheese. Tim and Luke ordered their steak well done and it was medium almost rare so we sent them back. By the time they brought their steaks back out I was half way through mine. This time Luke’s was o.k. but Tim’s was WAY well done almost charred. At this point the entire meal was falling apart because Luke was complaining his throat was killing him and he wasn’t eating ANYTHING and Tim was upset because he didn’t have a dinner to eat. The manager came over and bought us free desert and gave us Tim and Luke’s meal credits back which was nice but it stunk because we REALLY were looking forward to that meal. At this point I was frantically calling urgent care’s in the Orlando area trying to get Luke in to get him an antibiotic, I was convinced he had strep (which he gets quite often). The problem was that I have insurance but they all required a $500 up front payment that I would have to present to my insurance company, that was NOT in the vacation budget.
We settled our bill and headed upstairs. We had promised Diane and Bryan we’d watch Matthew and Eric this night for a bit so they could get a drink and celebrate their anniversary. We hung out with the kids in the concierge lounge:

I called Luke’s pediatrician and BEGGED her to call something in for us, she refused which really ticked me off. So we ended up getting Tylenol from the lobby to help Luke that night. We watched Matthew and Eric for an hour or so in the lounge as the kids hung out and then Tim and I enjoyed a drink. The makeup was driving Luke crazy so we began the process of taking the makeup off. POOR Luke, the eyeliner they put on him was INTENSE. I scrubbed his poor eyes forever and couldn’t make any progress. So, Tim and I called him Adam Lambert : ) You will see Luke AKA Adam Lambert in our photo’s the rest of the trip – it took forever for that stuff to wear off.
Well, after the scrub down we all headed to bed PRAYING Luke would feel better in the morning………….

Gosh poor Luke. I can't believe his pedi wouldn't call him in a prescription. I really hope he woke up feeling better.

That is sad about Jiko. At least you got the credits back, but it's always sad when you look forward to something and it turns out to be a disappointment.

Jiko was our favorite meal of our previous trip too. I'm always nervous that meals won't live up to expectations on a return trip, but it's so hard to not build them up to be amazing again, isn't it? I'm sorry you had such a frustrating experience, especially when Luke wasn't feeling well!

The makeovers look awesome- but poor Luke!!! As a nurse practitioner, it really ticks me off too that your pediatrician wouldn't help you out, especially if he frequently gets strep.

Wow! Pirates League looks really cool! The kids look amazing!! So sorry Luke wasn't feeling 100% and fully able to enjoy it. And, yikes, what happened at Jiko? What a bummer. I guess every place has an off night but still stinks.

Crossing my fingers the Tylenol worked. I would have been irritated at the Dr. too. I've never had a Dr. willing to just call stuff in but I have plenty of friends who seem like they can get any Rx at the drop of a hat. Very frustrating! Especially while on vacation and needing to feel better stat! Really hoping a good night's sleep does the trick.
