The Nick hotel looks like so much fun - if they had more characters from when I was little, I'd probably want to stay there. I don't know this new generation of Nick stuff. But the pool area looks so much fun and it was really nice of you to surprise your kids. I love doing stuff like that. Well, can't wait for more!

I couldn't help but laugh at "bucket exposure", I had a similar thing happen at the waterpark in Charleston last summer. DS was playing in the USSA world series and opening ceremonies were at a waterpark. It had the big bucket, slides and also trays that filled with water that had handles you could dump the water out. I was walking across to go on the slide and some kids above dumped the tray. It happened so fast, I'm saying no one saw anything too. LOL.

Yes, remember the pizza, YUM!!!! Sorry about your bucket exposure : )

Your first day(s) looks like a blast! How was the drive from OH? we are about 3 hours north of Cincy. I refuse to drive, but I'm wondering if it would save us money in the end.

It was a good time. The drive was o.k. since we split it up and didn't drive the WHOLE way, that would have been crazy. If you split it up it really is doable.

I feel like a bit of a stalker! I love reading your reports and was so excited that you started this one. I am not sure if I ever posted before though! I have been listening to the disunplugged podcast and was so excited when I heard you won the photopass cd! I am glad you foundout when you were there and I hope you were able to use it to your advantage! What a great prize! They just played my voicemail so I hope I am as lucky as you and win the monthly drawing! Keep up the great report writing!

Glad you are enjoying it so far and read the adults only TR's, those were definitely good times. Yes, it was fun exploring other Orlando attractions, we plan on doing some Universal next year after the cruise, can't wait. Not to sound dumb, but after kids get slimed, where do you rinse off? Do they showers by pool to rinse people off? Didn't think they would want people rinsing off in the pool, but I could be wrong

It looks awesome there. I am going to have to talk my husband and see if I can get him to agree to stay there next year for a night or two.

Blue Group sounds like a blast. My sil and family saw them last year and said they were amazing as well

They were so excited. The slime is really just green colored water so it washes down the drains pretty quickly, there are tons of water cannons the kids wash off in, but to my kids it was the real deal. Yes, Blue Man Group rocks, gotta check em' out sometime!

Great start! During our trip in May we drove by the Nick Hotel and my DD begged to go. The rooms look huge!

We saw Blue Man Group in Chicago and it was an awesome show. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Oh my goodness, that's horrible that your air conditioning stopped working. We drive down from Ohio every summer and I don't know what I'd do without A/C. It would be MISERABLE!!

I am SO INCREDIBLY JEALOUS that your kids got slimed. I'm about to turn 20, but getting slimed has been a lifelong dream of mine. Someday...

Glad your TR has started ! Without a Disney trip planned this year I am living vicariously thru DIS friends trip reports. That is crazy about the air conditioning I am glad it fixed itself.

Looks like the Nick hotel was a big hit for the kids. Getting slimed is definitely a great experience for Luke and Lauren ... one I am sure they won't forget.

I definitely need to check out the Blue Man group. My sister and brother-in-law have given it great reviews too. That was something fun to do on your birthday. Our family loves pizza too I will have to keep that place in mind on our next visit.

I am glad we can bring Disney to you, that makes me happy ; ) It was an experience I hope they never forget! It was a wonderful b-day, definitely keep Flippers in mind and order the breadsticks ; )

We saw the Blue Man Group out in Vegas a loooooonnnnggggg time ago before they were popular. Tickets were cheap. We had 3rd row center. Back then the ushers just handed you a garbage bag. When you asked what you'd need it for, they just said "oh, you'll see!!". It was awesome. One of the best shows I've ever seen! I'm glad they are still as awesome now! And glad that you enjoyed them!

Oh my gosh, what a fabulous start to the trip! (Well, after the AC started working again anyway!) When we drove by the Nick hotel when we were there I thought about y'all and was excited for you. The video was priceless! We need to try that sometime. I'm glad it lived up to the kids' dreams! I'm glad your birthday was so nice too, and the Blue Man Group was a great way to celebrate.

However, the neat thing about your family, and the reason so many of us are huge fans of your TRs, is your positive attitude. You and Tim and the kids always have fun and enjoy being together. Your kids are well-mannered and loving and they appreciate everything you do for them. You and Tim seem to really support each other and try to make each other (and the kids) happy. You are very caring individuals, and that makes your family so enjoyable to see. Love your TRs. The inside story to Luke's "pedicure" comment is too cute. Looks like you all had an amazing time at Nick. And, I am too impressed how well you stick to your budget, even sacrificing future plans to stick with it. That takes strength, especially in the middle of vacation. Good for you!

Also good to know they offer teacher discount at Nick Hotel. Do they always offer that or is it just during certain times?

Wasn't the pedicure thing too funny! Yes, it took strength but we have other vacations planned this summer and sticking to the budget was a must. I found the discount after searching forever online, it wasn't easy to find, not sure if it is offered all year or not.

So excited you started this!! And i'm super excited you liked Universal from what you saw! Its not Disney but it has a charm to it!! We're staying at the Hard Rock Hotel before we head over to Disney in August, we love it there! I've stayed at the Royal Pacific, and the Portofino is georgeous!! It has the BEST italian restaurant there: Mama Della's!

I can't wait to try Universal next year Mama Della's will definitely be on the list!

My wife and I saw Blue Man Group in Vegas and she was very hesitant at first but said it was one of the best, funniest shows she's ever seen. I loved 'em. All the people who I know who have gone since I always tell 'em they save the best seats for those who show up late.

Can't wait to hear more of the adventure.

Disney Day 1 Part 1:
So on June 16th we checked out of the Buena Vista Suites (after enjoying our complimentary buffet breakfast) and headed to Disney. Disney was calling our names and we were so excited to check in at Animal Kingdom Lodge and head to the Magic Kingdom.
We got in the car and before we knew it we were under the Mickey arches:

Home Sweet Home!!!!!

We went inside and as always it just felt like HOME!!! The kids were so excited to be there!

Unfortunately the room wasn’t ready so we took our “Key to the World Cards” and headed to the Magic Kingdom. (as a side note, for those of you who read my girls only April TR, Diane and I were upgraded to concierge level at the Wilderness Lodge and we were given golden cards and we kept rubbing it into Tim that we were “VIP’s” Well, when we were checking in I noticed our Key to the World cards were also gold, for a minute I got excited thinking that we had been upgraded too, but the guy said they were accidentally cut on the wrong card, I just thought that was funny ; )
We pulled the car up and unloaded all of our luggage to bell services and left the stuff that needed to be refridgerated with them too, nice touch they can keep this stuff cold for you.
As we were waiting on Tim to park the car Luke looked at me and said “AHHHHH mom, we’re here, don’t you just LOVE Disney!!!!! “ I LOVE how our love for Disney has rubbed off on my kids.
Tim was there quick and we headed to the bus stop:

Our bus mojo was working and there was a bus there and we got right on:

It was a BEAUTIFUL day in the Magic Kingdom:

We headed over to Fast pass Splash Mountain and on the way we saw that Princess Tiana was there with a short wait so we got in line (Lauren was THRILLED!!!)
As we were waiting in line Lauren said “she is the most beautiful princess”, I TOTALLY agree with her, she is gorgeous, and I LOVE her dress.
I must say that Tiana was the best princess of our whole trip, she was such fun. She instantly saw Luke’s Blue Man Group shirt he was wearing and started reading it:

Then she started doing the rock concert moves on the shirt:

Then she got to the dance move #4 on his shirt that had a leg behind the guys head and she said “can you do number 4??” And this was her facial expression as she was asking:

It was a great time, she was wonderful! The kids were so excited. We headed to Frontierland:

You like the back of Tim’s shirt!?! It was the HOTTEST day EVER that day. It was one of those days where if you were standing STILL the sweat was just dripping down your legs, the hottest day of our trip by far and they were all hot.
We grabbed Fast Passes for Splash:

And we jumped into the short standby line for Thunder Mountain Railroad:

Like I said before it was a HOT day, after the ride we took time to cool down:

A Dole Whip Float was calling my name:

Luke and I enjoyed our floats (quickly because they were melting FAST!)

It went down GREAT as always, just love those

As we were standing there this wonderful family came up to us and gave us 4 fast passes to the Jungle Cruise, so we rode that next (gotta love that Disney Magic!)
I don’t know why but this sign in the line cracked me up:

Our skipper was fun and funny (I am a sucker for those slap stick jokes):

Then we were sitting there waiting for the boat to go back to the dock at the end and the skipper asked if anyone had a birthday, no one did. He asked a kid in the back if he wanted to drive the boat, he said “no”. Luke raised his hand and said “I’d love to drive the boat!” I never knew they did this but he LET LUKE DRIVE!!

They gave Luke a skipper of the day card, he was on cloud nine!!!

After that we headed back to Splash to use our Fast Passes, we were hoping we would get SOAKED since it was so stinkin’ hot!

The kids were excited to ride:

Luke and I rode together and we got NAILED (which we were happy about). I forgot to put the camera away and tried to take this picture but the camera was a bit wet:

After Splash our tummies were rumbling so we headed to get some yummy taco’s:

We hoped to see the Pirate tutorial show but kept missing it this year, so Luke posed as a pirate instead:

It was STILL stinkin’ hot so we stopped to let the kids cool off again:

We were going to head back to the resort hoping we’d get a text our room was ready (it was close to 2:30 at this point) and it was just too hot to stay in the parks. So we took the route through the shops on Main Street so we could enjoy some air conditioning.

I found your trip report at the beginning...YAYYYY!!! I've read some of your previous reports, and always feel like I'm there with you...even though I've not been good about dropping in to let you know.

Your kiddos are ADORABLE, and I absolutely love their enthusiasm. You and your DH are wonderful, fun parents. My parents were like that with me, and I treasure the memories...Your kids will too, I'm sure of it!

We headed to the bus, I just love watching Tim and Lauren walk through the park:

I gave Luke the camera and he took the picture of something I had never noticed before:

Well, as the bus approached Animal Kingdom Lodge, still no text. The bus stopped at Kidani first so we decided it was a perfect time to get out of bus and explore Kidani since we had never seen it before:

The lobby was beautiful, they have done an outstanding job of making it exactly like Jambo just pint sized:

They had a cute gift shop that was similar to Jambo House but just smaller, they did have a drink refill station in there though:

Then we asked where the pool was and headed that way. Tim thought this sign and name was particularly funny:

He thought “survival of the fittest” and “restrooms” in the same sign could only have the following interpretation:

I love how Luke is just cracking up at him in that picture.
They have a ton of great activities going on all day:

The bar looked nice and I was happy to see it looked like they have started taking the dining plan here (I know this was a complaint when they first opened):

As we were checking it out I got a text saying our room was ready, THANK THE GOOD LORD cause we were sooooooooo hot!!!!
So we grabbed a bus back to Jambo (ANY bus going to any park goes right to Jambo from Kidani):

We were excited to go get our swim on before dinner so we got dressed and raced down to the pool. Literally as SOON as we set foot in the pool they made everyone get out due to thunder, the kids were less than thrilled:

We sadly went upstairs to get showered and ready for dinner………………………… STAY TUNED!!!

Yeay for arriving at Disney and heading straight to the Magic Kingdom!!! I showed Charles the pic of Tim's shirt and told him that is what we have to look forward to in a couple of weeks!
