Our good friend Rich Franklin (he goes to our church and we’ve become friends with him) was in the Ultimate Fighting Championship Title Fight that day in Ireland and Tim was depressed thinking he would miss the fight. Well, when we got back to the room he found out he was able to view it online for the same price as a Pay Per View, so he paid the money and watched as we slept. I was exhausted but told Tim to please wake me up when it was time for Rich’s fight. My wake up call came and Tim was still sitting there at 4:30 and Rich hadn’t fought yet so I grabbed a shower. When I came out Rich was up, OH MY GOSH what an intense fight, after screaming at the computer because we thought Rich was going to break his arm we were then screaming in joy because he was victorious, intense. GO RICH!
The fight didn’t end until close 5:20 and we needed to HURRY to get to dinner at O’Hana’s on time . We flew to the buses, got on a bus to MK and boarded a monorail for the Poly. Here is Tim and Luke on the monorail:
I don’t know what was up with the monorail this night but it kept getting stopped due to “traffic” it was very frustrating. I knew we had a 10 minute window for our reservation but after being on the monorail for 30 minutes (yes 30 minutes from the time we got on until the time we made it to the Poly) I was nervous. We checked in 15-20 minutes late but they were understanding, said another couple had reported being on the monorail for over an hour, again, I don’t know what was up with the monorail that night.
Here are Luke and I waiting for our table at OHana’s:
We were seated and Tim and I immediately ordered our favorite drinks “two back scratchers please” YUM!:
Man those are good, the kids loved the backscratchers they come with too.
The food at OHana’s for those of you who haven’t been is OUT OF THIS WORLD. They start you off with these delicious sticky wings, outstanding scalloped type potatoes, shrimp that has this incredible glaze on them, mixed vegetables and salad, they also have chips on the table with three delicious dipping sauces, the food at this restaurant is insanely good. Then they start bringing out scewers of meat: steak (incredible), pork sausage and turkey, YUM! We LOVE OHana’s for the food but even more for the live entertainment for the kids. My kids LOVE OHana’s and the woman who sings and dances with the kids. The kids were in all their glory:
The kids did occasionally make it back to the table to eat:
It was SUCH a good meal. The kids learned to do the hula, and they had fun doing the limbo and dancing around the restaurant. A new favorite of theirs this year was the coconut races too:
Here is Lauren right before I died laughing at her for giving up and just kicking her coconut around the restaurant, it was sooooo funny and she was dying laughing too:
For desert they brought out the banana pudding with ice cream, I have to say I’m not a huge fan, I just ate some of the ice cream, I was so full anyway it didn’t matter.
After that we got on the monorail and headed back to the Magic Kingdom. It was ANOTHER PERFECT NIGHT. We got to the park and people were already lining the streets for Spectro, we parked it right in front of the train station and had a great spot. The kids had fun playing with hula hoops on Main Street:
Tim and I were in a HAPPY silly almost giddy mood so as the kids played with hula hoops we took funny self portraits of ourselves (these are just the highlights we took a dozen of them) :
Here is beautiful Main Street all lit up and ready for the parade:
Of course ten minutes before the parade was to start the kids kept saying how thirsty they were so I SPRINTED to the Confectionary for two bottled waters and cotton candy (am I a good mom or what ?!?) and right as I came back it was parade time, here are a few pics:
Kids watching and having a good time:
It was a GREAT time. So we were scouting a place for Spectro and then it happened. . .. .Luke “accidentally” (this is yet to be determined) got water ALL over Lauren to the point where her entire outfit was DRENCHED she kept saying “I can’t watch fireworks I am soaked, I need dry clothes” etc. etc. So. . . ..I wouldn’t be seeing Wishes on this night.
On the bus ride home I sat next to Lauren and asked her what her favorite thing that day was and she said it was meeting Mary Poppins. We got her back to the room and changed into dry clothes. The kids enjoyed snacks and t.v. and fell asleep at a decent hour.
UP TOMORROW- FATHER’S DAY/ MGM Star Wars Weekends and OUR FIRST BIG DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned!!!
