Tim and Lesley Year of Million Compromises/TONS pics- 8/5 help me pg. 164!!!

We ordered http://gardengrocer.com/ their prices seem a bit high on things. But it's nice not to have to worry about bringing anything!!! They told us to order ASAP so we order our food three weeks before our trip.

Hi Lesley,

We ordered from www.wegoshop.com in December. We were at the VWL so we order fresh fruit (bananas, cut up melon, apples), orange juice, milk and of course water. We even got some cold cuts and english muffins for sandwiches while we were in the room and didnt want to go and get anything. I asked the owner to call me and let me know how the fruit looked and she did; it was great the entire family said we should have order more. Best thing we did. We also did not have to be in our room for delivery. Set it up with bell services(I think) for a pay out.

Leslie,
After the kids go to sleep tonight (not too much longer now), I will compare your itinerary to ours. I know what you mean about being all excited so many months out. I've spent the last few years pretending that DH was the Disney obsessed one, but I was actually in denial!:rolleyes1

Hey all,
Great info on groceries. Does WL have a fridge in every room?

O.K., I need some help/advice. Today we've been talking about possibly trying something new. We both LOVE LOVE LOVE WL, but are considering these possibilities:
AKL for a change- your thoughts??
Contemporary - but don't like the thought of not affording the tower so we'd have to walk to the Tower to access the monorail- your thoughts??
POP in June for 10 nights, we'd be saving 300 bucks and could stay longer?
YOUR THOUGHTS??????
Man, I can't believe this :rotfl:

Oh my gosh, I just read this whole thread and am already in love with your family!! As to yoru last post, I say spice it up with AKL! Normally with little kids, and spending a lot of time in MK I would say choose WL since it is closer, but since you have TGM (WOOHOO!!!!) and will know all the ins and outs, I say go for AKL! I am dying to stay there (although I have pick the Poly for my next trip), so maybe I am biased. I think it just looks so relaxing...and since you will of course be going back to the world year after year, why not try something new this time?!

That would spice up your TR! ;) :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I think the kids would love seeing the animals at AKL! I have never stayed at any of these so I can't give an opinion on which is better.

Being able to stay longer, in cooler  June at Pop is a good option.

Ok, I am just as confused as you are, and haven't been any help. ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

You'll have fun no matter where you stay! It's Disney World!

:) I would go with the POP. That's where we are staying.
Ten nights with park hopper tickets for $1,200!!! :thumbsup2
Can't ask for more then that!!! Although if I had the money to do it I would be at the WL or Contemporary!!!
But for now we'll take the value resorts

Leslie,

I read your trip report last summer and just now found your pre trip report! Our kids are the same ages so I remember reading your report thinking about our vacation! We went in November and stayed for 10 days! We swung it by staying at WL for three nights and off property for 7 nights. I will never stay off property again because we are now Disney Vacation club members!! We are going back in December and staying at SSR for 10 days! Our previous trip we stayed for 6 nights and I always felt a little rushed and like I wasn't getting it all in. So I LOVED staying for 10 days! We felt relaxed and were able to do so much more! If your heart isn't set on WL, I would stay longer! That's my opinion!!

Oh goodness! This is getting interesting, isn't it? :) As much as I would love to stay at AKL (or WL for that matter!), the option of staying longer is the deal maker for me - go with POP! Then put the $300 saved towards your next trip ;)

Yes, it is interesting. I think I do this every year and drive everyone in my family nuts. I would LOVE AK lodge, but I don't know if Tim would like it and we do love being on the water at WL. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the WL but the extra days are tempting at POP, also being able to go in June and not have to wait until value season in July is tempting. Thanks for all of the advice, please keep it coming, would love to hear experiences at AK and Contemporary since we've never been there.
I put a call into our AAA agent ( she must HATE me :confused3 :rotfl: ) to get quotes for all three and then we can sit down and hash it out. OF COURSE, I'll keep you updated.

So. . .today the Sawhook dreams began.
I chose Lauren as the lucky one and told her when she woke up she could go to Walmart with mommy and pick out anything that she would like (of course within reason). Here is her reaction hen she woke up:

She was soooooo excited. We went b-day shopping for a friend of hers a few weeks ago and we got the girl a barbie magic notebook and a makeup case. Well, Lauren was so jealous of that Barbie notebook that the first thing that popped into her head when I told her what her wish was, she wanted that notebook.
Lesley, Luke and Lauren headed off to Walmart (I stayed back and fixed dinner) and Lauren picked out her prize posession:

So, one wish down 6 more to go, stay tuned and keep those suggestions rolling in. Until tomorrow.

Ok today it was Lesley's turn to receive a wish...but what could I do for her. So I phoned her at work to see how her day was going and I found out it was train wreck so I decided I was going to give her a night off and some pampering. I took the kids to the store to get her flowers, wine, and plenty of snacks. I also picked up some roses to spread on the bed (my wish or hers ?? :rotfl: ) It snowed a ton here in Cincinnati today so Lesley had a 2 hour commute home that usually takes 10 minutes, needless to say she wasn't happy when she arrived home and she really was happy to see the wine ;) . The kids were excited to show her the tulips (her favorite) that I had bought for her. I told her to go upstairs and get changed into pajamas and when she walked upstairs she saw the roses on the bed and was very very happy  . (why did she suddenly mention she had a headache :confused3 ).
I also had purchased some of her favorite snacks for the evening, and I had prepared dinner for her and the kids so she didn't have to lift a finger. After a glass of wine with dinner she was in a MUCH better mood.
Anyway, she was quite thrilled with her wishes. Here are some pic's of the surprises:

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions, I appreciate the ideas and will award honorary dream team members tomorrow.
Gotta run, hoping the roses and wine will pay off tonight

i enjoyed reading your TR of last year in one sitting! (cuddled up in my disney afghan, counting the minutes to my trip in march) i'm glad i read the part about spectromagic! we've never seen that, and now we have a great tip about where to watch it! thanks!

Looks like a winner, Tim! :goodvibes Sorry to hear Lesley had such an awful day/commute. The snow is one of several reasons that my family is down here in Georgia.

I have two opinions:

The selfish person in me says you should stay with your originally scheduled trip (we were really looking forward to meeting you--My DD9 thinks your daughter is adorable:cutie: ).

We have often thought about the extra day thing. It would be cool to swing more days. Besides, I've heard Pop is cool.

Okay, so my family votes for you to stay at WL in July, whether or not it is in your best interest.:rolleyes1

Okay, I admit I am envious. Not only of the thoughtfulness of Tim but I love all the Disney stuff in your house! Loved the pics on the wall and the comforter!:cool2:

I think it's the whole "live vicariously" thing, but go for WL or AKL! AKL always seemed more appealing to me, just because you look out your window and omg! animals! but you seem to really love WL, so go for it!

O.K., as you can tell, my signature and dates have OFFICIALLY CHANGED and I am now a month closer to Disney.
Tim is a D.J. (allows him to stay at home with our babies) he also owns a DVD slideshow business - but anyway, back to Disney. He had a ton of weddings in July pop up and we had to switch to June.
After a MILLION and I'm not exaggerating;) calls to my AAA agent and surfing disboards, tourguidemike, and the internet in general we decided on a moderate resort we think we will love, Port Orleans French Quarter. Originally we booked Riverside this a.m. but after looking at the maps and reading about the bus service (being first on and off at FQ) we decided to switch (boy my AAA agent loves me :scared1: ) O.K., now I have to switch gears and get pumped for POFQ, if any of you have heard good things please post, I need lots of positive reviews :woohoo: . I'm trying to get the kids pumped, the dragon slide is helping :rotfl: . Tim and I have been spoiled rotten by WL and the easy access to the monorail and MK by boat so we are adjusting dining timing in our heads and switching gears a bit, (o.k. doing a bit of mourning too :guilty: ) but I know we will have a great time.
OH YEAH, THE BIG NEWS IS WE GOT TO ADD A DAY AND WE ARE ACTUALLY SAVING 50 bucks!!!! So that is good news:cool1:
Well, gotta run, I have to make a new itinerary, dining plans, EVERYTHING.
Of course I will post when I'm done. Thank God for snow days (I'm a teacher) so it worked out perfectly.
Also, it's Luke's 6th b-day today so it is great to be able to spend the day with him, taking him out for a big b-day dinner tonight and his big party with friends is tomorrow night.
Hey, now we're a month closer to Disney!!!!!! Will post more soon.

Lesley
