Tim and Lesley Year of Million Compromises/TONS pics- 8/5 help me pg. 164!!!

Hi there! I'm late but can I join in? I finished reading your June 06 trip report and was excited to find this new pre-trip report. You have a beautiful family and a great way with words. :goodvibes

I think...but I'm not totally sure...that if you go into your Ofoto account and copy the address, then place it as a link in a post here, it may work.

That didn't work with my Kodak site, as you may have remembered, though. Hopefully Ofoto is different.
I tried, didn't work. Oh well. I have tons of pretty pics and will upload to photobucket when we return.

Lesley,
As I took Hannah to preschool today, there were flurries! She said mom it is snowing, maybe school will be cancelled! Glad you are having a great trip!
Oh my gosh!! How awful, that is Cincinnati for you though ;)

Wow, just caught up from like the WAY beginning. Everything looks good, and I must say I am pretty excited for YOUR vacation (mine is like decades froms now, so I am just going to heave to live through you).

We stayed at POR in January and I loved both properties. We ate at POFQ's food court a few times (Riverside Mill was being renovated) and we enjoyed it. I think you made a god choice with French Quarter. We didn't have a problem with buses or anything, but it was Januaray and I am sure the buses are goingt o fill up alot quicker. You will be glad you are the first stop.
Wow, thanks, glad you found the report and are caught up. Thanks for the positive POFQ comments, I appreciate that. I am looking forard to the great bus service at POFQ, one of my only negatives at WL.
Lesley

We got 5 inches here in NH. Fortunately, it was a scheduled day off from school. I hate having to scramble for day care when it snows. No school tomorrow too, Good Friday.

I'm a little late joining in, but have enjoyed reading both of your reports. I was initially hooked b/c we're your neighbors - we're in Mason! :wave2: It looks like our vacations will overlap too - we'll be at the BC from the 16th-23rd of June. Can't wait!! Ninety degrees and humid actually sounds fantastic after the snow flurries and freezing weather of the past 2 days.

Freezing here in WI too, our family is going to Vegas next week to celebrate our son's 21st birthday. First family trip in 3 yrs. Enjoy the time when your kids are young, it is so hard to get the schedules of a 21, 24 and 28 y/o together. lol Can't wait to head to the warm southwest.:cool1:

Yes, we are all sunned up and actually we are packing up this afternoon and heading home, figure we'll make it back around 1 a.m. It turned a little cold here, too cold for a beach day (it feels like 45 with the windchill).
But that will feel quite warm compared to the temps at home.

Well, crazy weather in Spring I guess, have a good day off!

69 days to go, we're in the 60's, let's dance!!!! :cool1:  :yay: :dance3:

I am just a TEENIE bit excited!!!
This week is the week we will pay off the trip, I will be SURE to post that day. Also to look forward to, I will post pics from Kiawah this week as well. We have had such a wonderful vacation. For those of you who have never been to Kiawah beach South Carolina it is this little haven. It is a private island, beautiful beautiful beaches, scheduled kids activities, concerts, bike paths, golf courses for you golfers (there is a PGA coming here in May), tons of shells, dolphins, etc. it is WONDERFUL! I will post pics of this beautiful place later.
On a side note: we went off the island to see Meet the Robinsons last night. WHAT A GREAT MOVIE!!! It got a tiny bit weird in the middle and they lost me for 5 min. when I was saying to myself "where are they going with this" but then it was just incredible! I loved loved loved how they started the movie off with a classic Mickey short and then the whole movie is tied in with a quote from Walt Disney that they show you in the end, gave me chills. Tim squeezed me at the end and said "you loved that didn't you" (meaning how the whole movie tied into that quote), I just smiled and said "you know it!"
Well, wish me safe travels. Time to say goodbye to the beach, pack up and head hom . . .brrrrrr! Have a Happy Easter everyone!
Lesley

Kiawah sounds lovely. We'll definitely have to look into that. We love Myrtle Beach, but this sounds like a nice change of pace.
Have a safe trip home and a fabulous Easter:flower3:

I am jealous on several levels... I have 77 days until my school year is over...(but we are on spring break now, so I can't REALLY complain) AND, my family and I are NOT going to Disney at the end of the school year...you're lucky! I can't wait to live vicariously through your trip! :0)

:0) :wizard:

I can't wait to see you posted pics of Kiawah! Have a safe trip home, of course. Now, that countdown....It it is getting better all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you teach 2nd or 3rd? My neighbor teaches 2nd there and I'm a former 2nd grade teacher myself. My youngest son will be in 1st next year, but maybe we'll see you at MH the following year! I'm always looking for good teachers to request - and what could be better than a fellow Disney lover! :thumbsup2

Wow! I am so jealous, a beach vacation!! Glad you are enjoying some sunshine and warm weather!! I am glad to have gotten caught up on all your pre-trip reporting I have been sooo busy the past few weeks getting all my info ready, plans, and ADRs made for my October trip, I haven't made it to the trip report boards in what seems like forever!! Thanks, We loved Myrtle Beach too, much more "touristy" and has a night life, but Kiawah is a laid back, kick back and relax, get away from it all type of vacation with beautiful scenery, bike trails, I'll post pics in a minute and you will see. thank, you have a Happy Easter too- we got home at 1 a.m. and of course the kids were up by 7:rotfl:

Thanks. Man, that stinks about the ADR's, I'm still trying to Get that Mama Melrose Fantasmic on June 21st for a later time, I'll keep trying. Luke LOVED the movie, some of it went over his head but he absolutely loved it!
About being a dedicated Diser- maybe obsessed is more like it ;) I should be doing University of Phoenix grading right now but had to update first :rotfl2: At least you know when I start something, I finish it. I get so frustrated on the dis when you get hooked on a TR and then they fall off the face of the earth, I'm here for you :rotfl:

Actually I am a special education teacher for the 2-3rd grade multi handicapped students in the building. You can PM me though and I'll recommend some OUTSTANDING teachers!!!

Thanks, yes we are very fortunate. My mother paid for the condo so we just had to pay for gas and food which made it affordable/doable! I am glad you got caught up. Good luck on your upcoming trip, sounds like you are getting ready!

O.K., Kiawah, where do I begin. We had such a WONDERFUL time. It was sunny and in the 80's Sunday-Wednesday. Thursday it was only a high of 70 and very windy so we took a wonderful walk to a private beach(quite the hike, kids did well) to see dolphins and look for sandollars. Very nice.
Actually Kiawah was just listed in USA today this week as one of the top get aways. These pictures don't even do it justice but here you go:

Our Kiawah Cottage:

My FAVORITE view on the beach:

Here is a picture of my baby and me on the beach:
Kiawahtimandles.jpg

They have this WONDERFUL new area with tons of shops, a beautiful grocery store, places to sit, coffee place, hamburger/shake shop (DELICIOUS by the way) just so beautifully landscaped. They had a lollipop shop there where the kids went in and picked out some candy. We sat down so they could eat the candy and we could enjoy the beautiful scenery. Here is Tim soaking it in:
Kiawah1-3.jpg

Our favorite time to hit the beach was as the sun was setting. Here are the kids walking out one night on the boardwalk that led to the beach:
Kiawah1-1.jpg

Here is a family pic on the beach as the sun was setting - great lighting:

One of the kids being silly on the beach as the sun was setting:

After we took those pics Tim said he had money for ice cream so the kids rode their bikes to the ice cream shop as we followed. Kiawah is a great bike riding place, TONS of paths and people are on bikes all over. I love this pic of the kids because it gives you a sense of how pretty the island is, the flowers, landscaping, just beautiful! It was getting dark in this picture, but here you go:
Kiawah2-1.jpg

We had such a FABULOUS time, I can't believe it is over, time sure does fly. I'll be saying this about Disney before you know it. Hope you enjoyed the pics, I highly recommend Kiawah, wonderful place!!! Well, now that we had that little break, BACK TO DISNEY PLANNING!!!!

Lesley

Great photos. I love the quiet feel your pics portray. :hippie: The kids look like they had an awesome time.
Nice way to prep for Disney.

Welcome back, loved your pictures if Kiawah. It looks very relaxing, we might have to go there sometime instead of North Myrtle beach. Your Disney trip is getting close! I can't wait to hear how you like POFQ. Happy Easter!

Lesley...thank you so much for sharing your vacation pictures. I glanced at them earlier when they were thumbnails. I am so glad that you fixed that issue. It really looks lovely there. I especially love the picture of your kids on the boardwalk. That would be framed immediately if it were my kids!! And hey...my son Alec has that Piston Cup tee shirt too - from Target, right?

Have a wonderful Easter!
