Well, this was our first time on the DDP so I was ultra excited and in food heaven!!

I am sorry that I only have pics for Kona. Our memory card only had about 50pics for the whole trip, so I had to take pics of the best of the best only.;)

Day 1:

Beirgarten -

This was OOP because I didn't want to waste a TS credit here and this is usually one of my favorite places to eat for lunch. We arrived 30 minutes late for our 12:05 ADR (took longer to check in to AKL than expected) but were seated within 5 minutes.

Our DD (9 months) had fallen asleep in her stroller and the CM told us just to bring her right on in the stroller! That was unexpected and much appreciated.:) We all ordered cokes and I hightailed it to the buffet to get DS's (5 years old) plate. The children's selections were pretty dismal: cheese spatzel and some unappetizing hot dogs...... so, I picked him some nice carrots, potato salad, ham, breaded veal and pork loin off the adult menu. He was thrilled and gave it two thumbs up!

I then filled my own plate: the cold salads were full of ice.:scared: the cole slaw might have been better if I didn't have to crunch it, the cucumbers were partly frozen and frozen sausages just don't hit the spot..... Okay, on to the hot items: the pork knuckles were gone.:sad1: In their place was sliced ham (tough and overcooked) with sausages and saurkraut. The sausages and kraut were okay, nothing special. I also had some salmon with dill sauce that was very good, I loved it. The meatballs were pretty good and the roasted potatoes were a bit dry, but ok. I then visited the carving station (the pork loin is no longer self serve) and requested three slices of the loin and a slice of the veal loaf. Both of these were very good and flavorful, especially with the brown wine sauce (don't miss this, it truly makes the meats shine). However, the highlight of my meal, and you are going to die laughing...was the red cabbage and potato leek soup. What can I say, I love my veggies and this red, sour stuff just sang to me, as did the wonderful creamy, thick, oniony (is that word...lol) soup .:confused3

Okay, now on to the desserts: I picked the strudel with tons of the vanilla sauce.mmmmmmm. My DS picked the cake with the "cheese cake like" filling, he loved it.

My DH had pretty much the same things I did. He is easy to please and loves everything...lol.

Raglan Road

I had posted a review of this earlier....so I'll just copy and paste it here.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review of my former "favorite" restaurant.

This was just a quick trip for my family (4 days) and it was our first time on the DDP. We did have some wonderful food (and I intend to do a full review of all restaurants), but my experience with Raglan Road was so bad.....it deserved a review all of it's own.

We had a reservation for 6:15. We wanted to get there when it wasn't too crowded and crazy and hopefully be back at the room around 9:00 for my DD's bedtime (she is 9 months old). It didn't happen that way at all.......

We arrived at 6:10 and we were seated right away. We immediately grabbed the menus and couldn't wait to order the seared scallops and mushroom soup for our appetizers......but......they were both gone!! We then looked at the entrees only to see that the ribs, Kevin's Heavenly Ham and the fish entree were gone. Oh well....at least Paddy's Pork was still on the menu.

Our waitress comes to take our order and my DH and myself each order a beer flight and the scallop forest. Children are not allowed an appetizer here, so we decided to share the scallops with my DS (5 years old). About 30 minutes passes and we still have not even received our drinks! I'm getting a little irritated now and try to find our waitress. I find her and she says, she is right on it. 10 minutes later she finally comes to our table with our cokes and beer. I tell her that we would like to go ahead and order.....she says she will be right back. Well, about 30 minutes later she finds her way back to our table. The scallops STILL hadn't come out.....I was seriously ready to just freakin' leave!

Against my better judgement we stayed and I ordered the Paddy's Pork and my DH ordered the Shephard's Pie. For DS we ordered the fried shrimp with chips. The scallops finally come out and they are divine....huge with a nice crisp breading.

Our entrees took ATLEAST another 30-40 minutes to reach our table and in that time, the waitress had not come back even one time. My husband had to take our empty glasses to the bar to refilled with coke.

Our entrees finally arrive and my Paddy's Pork is NOTHING like it was last time.....it is a smallish piece of pork on a huge bed of mashed potatoes. I lifted the pork and there was only 4 pieces of leeks on the mash potatoes....I kid you not.....*4* pieces. I take a bite of the pork and it was DONE, they wanted to be sure that pig was dead! It had been cooked to death and the sausage stuffing tasted like......dog food. I was sooooo disappointed. I ate my potatoes and the scarce sampling of leeks.

My DS did have a nice big portion of fried shrimp and he loved his chips....yay!

My DH said his shephard's pie was OK. Nothing to write home about and the meat was a wee bit dry, but still ok.

After finishing our entrees, it was pushing 8:30 and we were ready to get our bread pudding boxed up and leave. Our waitress is nowhere to be seen.....imagine that.

We ask another waitress if she could find her and let her know we wanted our desserts. *sigh* About 30 minutes later she finally shows up and I tell her we want 2 bread puddings boxed up and our bill. At this point I give her my MYW card so she can take the credits off. She informs me the system is down, so she will bring me the bill for the beer. Okay good.

The bill for the beer comes ( 2 beer flights) and she has added a 20% tip to it. Ummmmm.....I don't freakin' think so! She had to be the worst waitress I have EVER had! It is bad enough she gets an 18% tip for her crappy service but I'll be darned if I'm tipping her one penny more. I kindly ask her WHY she has put 20% on the alcohol bill and she says "Oh, you are on the dining plan, I have to do that". I told her that alcohol was NOT included on the dining plan and I wanted the tip removed. She storms off......

After another lengthy wait a very large man with dark brown hair shows up and loudly asks "What is the problem" I assume this was the manager, it was....and he was pissed off from the get go. I kindly explained to him about the shoddy service and how we have been at his restaurant for 3 hours now. I told him that alcohol was NOT included in the dining plan and I wanted that 20% removed from the bill. He snapped at me "FINE, I'll take it off, but I suggest you find another restaurant to eat at if you are going to quibble over a measly 5 dollars." He said this so loudly and so mean that my 5 year old son became scared and started crying. I told him that WDW would be hearing from me and he needed to learn manners. He then told me to just leave!

I have never been so upset in my life! I was literally shaking leaving that place. I immediately went to the concierge desk at AKL and relayed the story to them. They were horrified and wanted to add more dining credits to my plan....I told them there was no need, I just wanted them to know how I was treated.

The final insult happened the next day. After my next table service meal, I see that I don't have any table credits left! Raglan Road had charged my DDP for 6 adult credits. I immediately went to the concierge desk and they put the dining credits back in place plus an additional TS for everyone in my party.

It will be a cold, cold day in hell before I step foot back in that restaurant........

Snack Chocolate covered pretzels from gift shop in AKL

Well, that was nice huh?:scared: On to day 2!!!

Day 2

Pecos Bill's - Magic Kingdom

This has been our favorite CS restaurant since Cosmic Rays did away with those lovely Stack Sandwiches....:sad1: :sad2:

Me: Double cheeseburger with fries, large coke and carrot cake. Loved the cheeseburger and fixed it up with stewed onions and mushrooms from the fixins bar.

DH: Pulled pork sandwich with fries, large coke and carrot cake. He loved this and inhaled the sandwich. It was HUGE and the fries were hot and crispy.

DS: Chicken tenders, fries, grapes and coke. He loved these chicken tenders. We were worried they would be the chopped and formed chicken that we had at Captain Cook's last time, but this was whole chicken.

Snacks: Dole whip and Dole whip float......mmmmmmm creamy pineapple heaven. We loved it and it was a nice respite from the hot sun.

Cinnamon roll - MK bakery, OMG.....this thing is HUGE!! Seriously, it was about half foot long!!!

Kona Cafe

I was very nervous about this ADR b/c we had never been here before. We checked in at 6:30 for a 6:45 ADR. The place was a madhouse!!! There was tons of people everywhere!! We were seated at 6:45 at a lovely table at the very back of the restaurant. It was private (as opposed to some of the other tables) and perfect.

Me: Crab cakes, Filet, Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart - OMG! The crab cakes were heaven on earth....no filler, just full of sweet crab with pinapple and wasabi dressing. There was a salad in the middle with the dressing and ginger...I inhaled it. Next, the filet. I can NOT say enough about this. I ordered it rare and I could cut it with my fork. It was divine! The best piece of meat I have eaten in ages, cooked perfectly. I also loved the golden yukon potatoes and the asparagus. The macadamia nut tart was wonderful, kind of like a polynesian "pecan pie".....lol.

DH - Sticky wings, Filet, Kilauea Torte - He loved, loved his sticky wings. I ate a few and they were fabulous. The black and white sesame seeds worked so well with the sweet, sticky sauce. He was in love with his filet and devoured it all.....just like me! The kilauea torte was a big hit with him. He said it tasted like a big chocolate chip cookie.

DS - This was his favorite meal. He had the grilled chicken tenders with macaroni and maranara sauce, fruit and a sundae (our server allowed him to have the Kona sundae). He ate everything and that is unheard of for my skinny little 5 year old.

We fell in love with this restaurant and can't wait to go back!!

Day 3:

This was our "resort" day, so we vegged out at the AKL all day and lounged by the pool.

The Mara:

I had read many shining reviews of this CS food court and was quite excited to try it. I have had better, much better.....

Me: Half chicken plate with couscous and veggies, fountain drink and yogurt parfait. The chicken was COLD and just blah. Not much taste and the spices on the skin were....bitter tasting. Would never get this again. The couscous and veggies were ok.....fries would have been better. I opted to not eat this and "share" (really steal) half of my hubby's lunch...lol. The yogurt parfait was wonderful and I shared this with my 5 year old.

DH: The ham, cheese and bacon flat bread sandwich, chocolate danish and fountain drink. I wish they had told me this took 20 minutes to prepare!!:scared1: Since I ate half this sandwich, I can tell you it was wonderful, we truly enjoyed it. The chocolate danish was really good.

DS: Mac and cheese, grapes and fries. He loved this and inhaled it.

Boma

We had a 4:50 ADR and arrived right on time, we were immediately seated. The food was heavenly! The kid's selections were some of the best I have seen. DS had - Spaghetti with meatballs, chicken tenders, mac and cheese, couscous and french fries. He loved it.

Me: Prime rib - rare, ribs, the sausage and egg stuff, the smashed sweet potatoes, couscous, hummus sampler and the wonderful chicken coconut curry stew. I loved it all but I had three bowls of the chicken coconut curry stew....there is nothing better.

DH - had pretty much the same thing as me, but about 4 servings of prime rib.

We didn't eat dessert here....we were too full.

Mara

Used a CS credit for a late night munchy. We got the pepperoni pizza, powerade and grapes for dessert. We all loved this pizza, it was on an herb crust and was just great. My DS loved the grapes and his powerade.

Day 4

We were ready to conquer the F&WF!!! Got to EPCOT and went straight to Mexico.

Snack

Chilaquile - OMG, this is one of the BEST things I have had at WDW!!! It was a chicken and cheese casserole somothered with tomatilla sauce and sour cream. I am salivating just THINKING about this...mmmmm.

Cold potato and leek soup - I loved this but husband didn't agree, the thought it should have been hot. I think he doesn't appreciate Irish food...;) I also had a Meade here, that is honey wine for those not in the know.....OMGosh, it was sooooo good. I loved it.

Cheese Beer soup - It was good, but not the holy grail that some make it out to be. It had too much bacon in it for my liking.

American Pavilion/CS

This was our FAVORITE CS. We had two hot dogs with fries, large cokes and apple cobbler. The hot dogs were huge and juicy. I smothered it with relish and chowed down!!! I shared this with my DS b/c I was going to get a meal at Morrocco too.

Morrocco

The Lamb platter with baklava and drink - I must say this was a huge disappointment. The lamb was cooked to DEATH!!, the hummus was nondescript (it tasted like nothing), the couscous was good and the green salad stuff was bitter. The baklava was heavy, heavy, heavy. I did enjoy the coke. I won't be eating here again and this was a former favorite.

Snacks

Choclate covered pretzels
Entemanns doughnut variety pack
2 Chip and Dale nut company nature trail mix
School bread - this is the best thing EVAH!!
Fruit tart (norway) - heaven

Kona Cafe

We had ADR's at Chef Mickey's but cancelled them (with the blessings of my 5 year old) for Kona.

Me and DH: crab cakes, sticky wings, the fantabulous filet, and the torte.

DS: grilled chicken tenders and macaroni with fruit and kona kone.

It was awesome, same review as last time.

We had two CS credits left on our last night, we opted for:

Pepperoni pizza, powerade and zebra domes
Chicken strips, strawberry milk and zebra domes

Good counter service food but I don't think the zebra domes are "all that". I wouldn't eat them again.
