I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I'd definitely take the fact that Randy is available as a sign that it's. "meant to be." From what everybody says, I think you'll be very happy with that decision. (He was already booked on our date, so that wasn't an option for us.)

I hope things work out with your brother's job. That's a tough one! You'd think his boss would be understanding, since it's his SISTER's wedding, not some distant relative. Plus, he'll have plenty of notice. At least you know he'll be at the ceremony and reception, though.

As for the bridesmaids, you can always go without. I'm only having a flowergirl. I just didn't want to deal with the drama. Plus, even just picking the maids and groomsmen can cause issues. You certainly shouldn't feel like you have to have a wedding party. Plenty of brides don't.

And that cake is great!! I'm sure your DF will love it. It sounds perfect for him!

I was sad at first over the photography thing. I have done a couple photo shoots with them (some of which are in my signature) and I absolutely love what they do. But I'm not willing to risk not having a photographer at all come my wedding day!

I wish my brother's job understood more. I'm his only sibling and I plan on this being my only wedding. I can understand the business aspect of it but it still stinks!

I love the idea of only having 1 or 2 bridesmaids. Unfortunately it was like pulling teeth with my DF to get it down to 4 each. He has so many friends I had to literally force him to cut it down. I never wanted a huge bridal party and this was a bigger deal than I ever thought it would be. Unfortunately he feels that if he was in their wedding they have to be in ours. I finally got it through to him that that is not the case. It's not our fault he is the last of his friends to marry! We are NOT going to have 10 groomsmen!!!

I'm so excited over the cake thing! I just hope I can keep it a surprise for 8 1/2 more months. I get so excited over things I usually spill the beans.

i just stumbled on this thread and noticed that your wedding is quickly coming up. update your pj and make sure you post a tr! i'm sure your wedding will be perfect! i'm dying to know if you were able to keep the cake a surprise from your df. how has the rest of planning gone? did the bridesmade situation get worked out?
