I feel like I read somewhere that this would work, but just to be sure I'll ask here -- if you really wanted to, could you book a Tier 1 FP (Soarin', for example) as your first FP of the day, use the FP, then cancel your 2 remaining FPs so that you could then try to get a 4th FP for another Tier 1 (Test Track, for example) before they run out?

i just heard from someone that if you cancel your FP+ (even just 1 of them), you can't book anymore for the rest of the day. i'm pretty sure it happened to a friend of mine who went in january. i'm curious to know if that's officially true for everyone

This is not true. If you have your fast passes set for animal kingdom, go there and see wait times are short and you don't need to use your passes, you can easily cancel the passes and set up for another park if your park hopping

If you use one of those fast passes though.. you can't cancel them all and make selections for a separate park. You'll need to select additional passes at a FP kiosk at the second park.

But staying within one park, as long as you haven't used the fast pass you can change the attraction, time, or cancel it. You can change it even if the time slot has expired. You're not penalized or stopped from doing anything if you cancel one or more fp's

It works, but you have the procedure BACKWARDS.

You want to CANCEL the other two FPs BEFORE you use the first FP that day.

So, book Soarin' for, say, 9:30AM as the first FP+, and book (say) Imagination and Turtle Talk as the other two FP+ for any other time.

That morning, CANCEL the FP+ for Imagination and Turtle Talk, then use the Soarin' FP+.

Right after that, you can book ANY FP+ at Epcot still available (including Test Track or Soarin' again) as your "4th" FP+.

Or, exit Epcot and go to any other park and book a "4th" FP+ for any attraction there.

What are the odds that Test Track or Soarin are even available same day? Interesting idea.

It's possible but their normally tough to get for any reasonably close return time. Their mostly both all gone by about noon from what I've seen in the parks

Wow this is very interesting...... I wonder how long before they close this or if they care enough to?

Wow, that seems really late in the day for those two to still have FP available!

Keep in mind that the Lines app only shows availability for one. Also, now is probably a slow time. If you go at a busy time, I bet pickins are slim.

I usually go on Friday night. We decide what park to go to about 4 in the afternoon, we look up FP times and can almost always get one TT or Soarin for 3 late in the evening. IDK if they release some during the day as demand wanes or what, just my experience.

Why would they close it? You are taking a risk that you won't be able to get a decent FP+ same day.

Where is the risk exactly? :confused3

You get to use your Tier 1 FP+ and dump your Tier 2 ones and not have to wait until after you have used your 3rd FP+ before attempting to get another. So you would be able to try and get another Tier 1 FP+ way earlier in the day when your chances are far greater that there still may be some still available to get.

And, not get to book a third FP+ (technically a "5th FP") of any kind until at least an hour after your 4th FP window opened.

It's not really such a major advantage.

I have seen the posted wait times for tier 2 going up. Maybe they are inflated. However, we go at busier times. I have never seen a tier 1 available at Epcot or DHS in both of our FP+ trips. At DHS in March, I went to the kiosk at RD. The band had no FP+, so there were no time conflicts. No TSMM or RNRC available. We only had a party of 3. I have also seen very little availability for some of the tier 2, like Mission Space Orange. Slow times may be different, but you don't need FP+ as much during slow times.

True, but if FP's 2 and 3 are not going to be used anyways being able to cancel them right away and attempt for another Tier 1 FP earlier when thr possiblities that there would be some Tier 1's still avaialable could be advantageous to some people.

I agree, but I just don't see it as some sort of major advantage,
nor one that would be practiced by enough guests to warrant needing a "fix."

To me, anyway, it's more a point of interest to know that by utilizing a specific technique, it can be done.

Maybe Disney will make changes that fix some of these issues, maybe not.

Stay tuned.
