Today’s Navigator

We weren’t due to arrive in St Petersburg until Noon so we had another lazy morning, not getting up until 8:30. We got washed and dressed and went up to Topsiders breakfast then went out on deck for a wander and laid out on a couple of sun loungers.

After a while we went down to have a quick look around the shop before going back up on deck to watch us dock and get some photos.

We docked around 11:00 and went down to get a drink from the beverage station and as were sitting there drinking Mickey came past and shook my hand followed by Minnie but it wasn’t until they had gone past that I realised I could have got a photo of them together. At 11:30 we went down to get our paperwork together before going down to Guest Services where we were due to meet Tammy, Heidi and their respective families for our tour with Anastasia Travel Company.

We all met up and got off the ship around 12:30 and were soon through Immigration - this being the first port where our passports were actually checked and stamped. On the other side we found our guide and were greeted by Anastasia herself who introduced us to Helen, who was to be our guide for the next two days.

Helen led us out to our van where we met Dimitri, our driver for the next two days and we set off for a short city tour before stopping off at the Hermitage Museum where we spent a couple of hours walking around.

The Hermitage houses 2 million exhibits but we only had a day and a half in Russia so at 3:40 we left the Hermitage and continued the city tour stopping off at a few places for photos.

We were back on the ship at 5:50 and Dad went upstairs to get a snack while I made a start on my trip report. Around half an hour later we went down for pre-show drinks and then into the Walt Disney Theatre for the show, which tonight was ‘Men In Coats’, a visual comedy act which was OK but I thought it was a poor man’s Blue Man Group.

As people were on excursions tonight the dinner times had changed and our dinner was an hour earlier than normal so after the show we went straight in to dinner, which tonight was back in Parrot Cay. We both started with smoked salmon blini, then Dad had Borscht and I had green pea soup followed by chicken Kiev for me and goulash for Dad. Finally Dad had crepes Romanov and I had chocolate opera cake.

After dinner I started to walk around deck 4 but part of it was roped off so I walked back to where I started and decided to lie out on a sun lounger instead and a short while later Dad joined me. After a while of lounging around we went down to our usual spot in the Promenade Lounge where we had a large Courvoisier each and then went up to deck 9 where some local Russian performers were putting on a show.

Once the show ended around 11:10 we went down to the snack buffet and picked up some bits which we took to the cabin and ate before going to bed at 11:20 ready for a full day of touring tomorrow.

With our usual towel animal we found this tonight, which was a tinned set of coasters produced especially for this first Baltic cruise.

Yes it did Mandy. I don't know if it's true but I read somewhere that it was the first time the Magic has ever had a scheduled overnight port stop.

Fantastic photos! I love the idea of touring but coming back to the ship to eat popcorn:: / rest / drink :drinking:!

Really like the photo's of the Hermitage Museum , the decoration looks so lush . Coaster you brought are lovely :thumbsup2, will you use them

We didn't buy them, they were a gift from Disney. I won't be using them as I want to keep all the gifts Disney gave us in pristine condition as 'collectors items'.

Lovely day, the weather looks good as well, great coasters, you have had some lovely gifts on this cruise:goodvibes

St. Petersburg looks fascinating and I'm pleased to see more blue skies... Love the coasters - it's those Disney touches that never fail to please... :goodvibes

Another great gift - you are getting spoilt.

I think I would have been reluctant to buy anything from the shops in case it turned up on my bed at the end of the day :lmao:

:rotfl2: Luckily none of the stuff we were given was available in the shop. Dad keeps saying we should put it all on Ebay.
