Tiddly Carvings?! - A Baltic Cruise: Day 13 - Debarkation

Today was our last day and, as I was awake at 6:00 I decided to go for one last walk around the ship. First stop was Guest Services to pick up the last page of our bill, which was missing from the copy that was slipped under the door last night. From there I went up to deck 9 and spent some time just wandering around taking photos and soaking up every last minute I could on board this gorgeous ship.

At 7:30 I went back to the cabin, removed all the door magnets and packed up all of my carry-off stuff before going out to sit on the verandah and wait for our breakfast time to come around.

At 8:15 we gathered up all our carry-off luggage and made our way down to Animator’s Palate for one last time for our breakfast. We chatted for a while with our table mates and then at 9:00 it was time to leave the ship.

We went into the baggage hall and found both our cases straight away – a lot easier and less stressful than waiting for them to come up on a luggage carousel at the airport! Dad waited at the terminal while I went down to pick up the car, which was still waiting where I had left it.

We were on the road at 9:35 and, after stopping to fill up with petrol, we were indoors by 11:00 and the holiday was over. I knew I was going to enjoy this cruise but I wasn’t aware just how much and we were only a few days into it when I decided that sometime, somewhere I will definitely be doing another one – at the moment thoughts are to book on the inaugural cruise of the Disney Fantasy in 2012 but we’ll see.

Immediate thoughts turn to my 40th birthday trip next year which will be spent at WDW – hopefully in Bay Lake Towers but later this month I’ll book Animal Kingdom Villas (our home DVC resort) just so that we have got something booked and then try and transfer it at 7 months.

So happy that you and Ray enjoyed cruising - like I said, it's my flippin' weakness... I'll always love going to WDW/DL but I'm not sure anything beats seeing all those wonderful and magical cities from the comfort of a floating Disney hotel...

Again I'm glad I could hold your interest enough for you to read from start to finish in one go. It was great to meet you too (Dad especially wanted to say hello to you, mainly because yours was the only screen name he could remember ). As long as people are enjoying reading my reports I'll keep writing them.

Thanks Suzy. It was great to be on the inaugural trip, mainly because of all the special welcomes at the ports and the little extra gifts we got.

Thanks Karen, again it's been nice to see your comments coming through on each day from start to finish, one after the other. I did occasionally wonder what it had been like with you and the two Claires but I must admit I did forget to raise a drink to you on your birthday. Looking forward to reading what you got up to in Orlando while we were on the cruise.

The Contemporary is one of my favourite locations anyway so I'm hoping to go one better and get an MK view at BLT, maybe even splurging points on a one bedroom if I can't get a studio - but that's for another report.

As I read your report off and on through a very rainy day here, it conjured lovely, sunny moments in exotic ports. Thank you for that. Congratulations to you on planning, executing, and reporting another impressive trip. And congratulations to your Dad for winning the dessert contest.
