We have a couple of unused 1 day 1 park tickets with my in-laws names on them from a free dining package last year (they used military tickets for park admission that trip). We had the tickets taken off of the room keys and now have these tickets that have their names on them but are unused 1 day 1 park tickets. My in-laws have decided that due to their age and health that the last trip to Disney was indeed their last. They have no plans to ever return to the parks and told us to use the tickets. We have APs and thought we could use them towards renewal one year but can't do that with someone else's name on them.

Since technically an unused ticket is transferable can we have the names taken completely off these tickets at Guest Relations or do we have to change the names to ours?

As long as the ticket has not been used, it will be fine to use it.

I know you can use it as a 1 day admission but we have no use for that type of ticket since we are AP holders. We wanted to use it towards the renewal of our AP but with the names being different from ours then I doubt they will let us use them that way.

They told me it didn't matter as long as the ticket hasn't been used. I have a 1 day somewhere with my brother's name on it. We added him to our package (he lived in Orlando, but had an AP) but he never used the ticket. They separated it but it still has his name on it. They told me as long as it was never tied to his finger it would work for anyone.... so I would assume that you could use it for anything, too, as long as it weren't activated.

I don't think you can use it towards a renewal price, however you can change the tickets to your names, and upgrade from there. Which I think the savings of 80$ is more than renewal savings.

Just be sure to use the tickets first, to get the current retail value rather than the original value from a couple years ago. After entering the park, head to guest relations and take care of it there.

I am pretty sure you can use it as well with the name on it - it is an unused one day ticket regardless of the name. I have used them in a variety of ways - but not to renew my AP so I can't answer definitively. But I bet Cheshire Figment will be along to answer.

It doesn't matter. Any unused ticket can be used by anyone, regardless of whose name is on the ticket.

Thanks. Hoping Chesire Figment stops by with the final word. :)

Now I am questioning if they will let us use our DVC AP renewal discount and one of these tickets towards the cost at the same time. I do know that we can only use 1 ticket towards each AP.

Yes you can. I used a one day ticket last year and my DVC discount to buy an AP. No issues. Going to do the same thing next month with my GAD ticket.

I know you can do the two because the DVC is not a discount (in the minds of the ticket sellers) .. it is a price category.

Thanks to you both.

Now just to find out if we can get the names off or changed on the tickets. I really hope we can to avoid any issues in the future.

You really don't need to. There won't be any issues. Unused tickets are completely transferable. :)
