We purchased our tickets thru my father in law who is retired from the Coast Guard. My hubby has also retired from the Army & our military id's just expired. Will we be required to see military ID in order for our tickets to be valid at the gate or does it matter? All I've read is that : "YOU MUST PRESENT VALID ID IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THESE PASSES" Do they mean to actually purchase the tickets?

We are always told when we purchase our tickets at the military ticket office that we should have our military ID cards available at the gates. However, we've never been asked to show them. If I were you I would call a military ticket office and ask what Disney's official policy on this is. I would think though that as an Army retiree your DH is entitled to military tickets, just as he is to the Commissary, etc...I'm surprised you don't have an ID anymore; how do you get on base to access retiree benefits?

I'm sure everything will be just fine--have a great trip!

My hubby was given a choice to recieve a LARGE lump sum (military discharge) if we gave up or military id's and all priviliges. We had to mail our id's back plus they were close to expired. I can only go on base if I'm w/ my in-laws. I will double check. Too be honest with you if we still had our ID's I won't bring them on vacation. I'd be too worried that I might lose them. I thought the only place that they would check would be at Shades of Green.

Ah, well that explains the ID card thing! :)
I really don't think anyone will want to check for military ID. I don't know Disney's official rule on this but I seriously doubt you will have a problem. I remember several years ago I bought tickets through the base for my civilian family members who were going to Disneyland with us; the ticket guy said Disney allowed this, no problem. I think some theme parks are more strict than Disney is about only ID-carrying military using the military-rate tickets.
I do think maybe I would call Disney, or your military ticket office, just to be sure, since I think if I were you I would be really anxious when I approached the gate for the first time not knowing for sure if someone was going to turn me away (as completely unlikely as that is!).
