I am going to be buying 2 universal studios tickets from someone and they tell me they aren't the florida resident discounted tickets.. how can I tell if the tickets are florida resident discounted tickets? does it say that somewhere on them?

if they are doesn't that mean I would have to show an ID to prove I am at the gate and if I dont I will have to pay the difference to upgrade it to the regular admission ticket price?

Edit:
One more thing, my aunt lives in florida and would be able to purchase the tickets online for us rather than me risk buying them from someone else. If she buys the tickets for us with the florida resident discount and we print the tickets at home, will they ask for ID at the gate to show that one of us is a florida resident? Just wondering because I emailed universal asking if ID's were needed and they told me one person needs something to show they are a resident and they can get in up to four other people with the discount. But I dunno if they were referring to if we bought the tickets online and printed them at home.

So if anyone has experience with this, would they ask us for an ID at the gate?

No worries. Florida residents can purchase tickets for their friends and family who are not residents. As long as the purchaser is a FL resident, everything is good. The FL resident does not even have to be with you when you use the tickets. If you are asked for ID, it is just to verify the name on the ticket. (The print at home tickets have your name on them.)

ok.. well i think im gonna go with buying them from this seller i found who won the tickets in a contest.. they are selling me 2 tickets that are 1 day 2 park and a parking pass for $100

i just have one quick question.. the only possible issue i see with them is that they have printed on the back of them "COMP-UO SAM/JACKSONVILLE WINNERS".. the seller told me they won them in a contest.. anyway is it possible this could be a problem for us? i can post the pic of the tickets if needed.

Thanks!

EDIT:
just tried to post a link to the image but it won't let me til I have 10 posts. Anyway, one other thing it says on the tickets is "COMPLIMENTARY -- NOT TO BE SOLD"

Aren't those tickets tied to the winner? I don't know if you would be able to use them at the gate. Phamton will have to verify but I think you might have some problems since your information wouldn't match the winner's information on file. LIke I said...Phamton would have to verify and I hope I'm wrong but....

I wouldn't buy comp tickets as they could be confiscated at the gates. They are not for resale.

MIL is a Florida resident and will go with us on this trip. In order to qualify for the FL resident discount, do I need to buy the tickets using her credit card? I had no problem reserving a room in her name with my credit card.

Thanks!

i just called universal and they told me if i fax a picture of the back of the tickets with my phone number they will call me back within 48 hours and tell me if they are still valid. i would assume they can tell me if there are any 'restrictions' on them like if they are tied to someone else's name as well.

phamton - how would universal know whether they were sold to me or given to me by a friend?

They might not know but you will know. They may ask you and then you'll just have to make something up. The tickets say not for resale so you may be asked about the contest you won them in, etc. It seems like a lot of work to fax the ticket info etc., just to save a few $. You might not be caught but you are still taking a chance.

One person last year, posted on the board how their tickets were confiscated when they got to the parks. Apparently, the seller on eBay had posted a picture of the back of the ticket. Universal watches eBay for illegal ticket sales. They saw the ticket and canceled the ticket from the barcode. Then when the person went to use them, the tickets were confiscated.

ok, thanks for the information.. i really would hate to get there and not be able to get in with the tickets and have to purchase them at gate price of $85 plus tax :S

do you know where i can get the best deal on 2 tickets that are 1 day 2 park?
