Tickets for Sold-out MHP?

My family and my sister and her family will be heading to Disneyland Oct. 31-Nov.4. We were lucky enough to get tickets for the 31st MHP before it sold out. A few weeks ago my parents decided to join us for the trip. They were so disappointed to find out they couldn't join us for MHP, especially when my dad found out that he wouldn't be able to do Space Mountain (his favorite) as it will be closed the other days we will be there. Is there any safe/legal ways to buy tickets for that night? I'm sure there are people out there that buy tickets and then things come up and can't use them. What do they do? Can they sell them? And how would you distinguish between them and the frauds? I'd love to get my parents in with us!

The most common recommendations are to try calling Disneyland Tickets (714-781-4400) right now and see if they have any (unlikely because Halloween night sold out back on August 8 but always worth a try). There may also be tickets available the day of the event at the ticket booths. Lastly, the onsite hotels sometimes have tickets available on the day of the event for onsite guests.

We just experienced that same problem for the first party. One member of our group did not have a ticket. The morning of the party she went with my DD (who had her ticket in hand) and asked if they could get one more. The woman was very nice and said because she was able to see that the rest of our party already had tickets she got one too. Had my daughter not brought her ticket she would not have gotten one.
