Tickets- adding a day after?

We'll be there the week between Christmas and New Years and realize it will be super busy. Our original plan was to buy 3-day 1 park tickets and spend two days at IOA and one at Universal. Now we're rethinking whether we want to go full-speed for three days or maybe only do two days and have some time to relax. So if we buy the 2-day 1 park tickets and decide we need a third, can we add on that third day before we leave the park, or would we have to buy a separate 1-day ticket?

You can upgrade on the 2nd day no problem.

So how does that work? If we buy 2-day one-park tickets online, how do we add that third day once we're there? On our second day, do we just go to the ticket booth as we leave and tell them we want to add a third day? And they'll just charge us the $15 or whatever it is for a third day?

On the first or second day, go to Guest Services which is at the exit of both parks. They will just charge you the difference in what you paid and what the price for 3 days should be.
