Ticketless package?

Hi guys, I currently have a package with room and tickets. We booked initially under free dining and then decided the room discount would be a better option for us so Disney just switched to a room + ticket package. I just found out my company offers a pretty decent deal on tickets and I'm wondering if I can still switch to a room only "ticketless" package. I believe that was possible a few years ago, but not sure if I can still do that. We got a 35% discount on the GF and don't want to lose it!

It's just called a room only reservation. It's not a package.

When you paid the deposit, was it for the cost of one nights stay or $200?

For room only you pay the first night deposit, which is refundable if canceled up to 5 days prior, and balance paid at check in. For a package the downpayment is $200 with the balance being due I believe 45 days before arrival.

30 days before arrival the package has to be paid off.

We booked a package with the $200 deposit. My fear if I rebook as just a room only reservation is that I'd have to truly cancel and rebook, thus losing my room discount as it's no longer available. Curious if it's possible to drop the tickets, not have a dining plan, but still have the package.

There is nothing there to make it a package anymore. So you are in a sense cancelling your package.

Call and ask to speak with guest services. Regular reservation CMs aren't able to make that kind of change if your room type is no longer available, but guest services should be able to help. Since you will be going from a package to room only, the package will get cancelled/refunded and RO booked, which will require a new deposit equal to one night's room rate + tax, with the balance due at check in. Guest services is the only department that can make that change without you losing your room type & discount.

I went from a package to a room only but it was all in the same day. The CM who made the room only reservation was able to cancel and refund the $200 from the package and then charge me the first night's deposit. I'd just call, ask for the room discount you are looking at and see if they can work with you. If not then ask to speak to somebody in Guest Services. They are usually all very helpful.

Actually the OP is correct:
There is such a creature as a room only package.

Assuming there isn’t any availability to book a new room only reservation with the discount:

If the CM won’t let you do the room only package (essentially removing the tickets but keeping the same reservation number and cancelation/deposit rules), ask to speak to a supervisor. If they still say now, hang up politely and try again a few times.

If you can’t find someone to do it for you, you would have the option of adding the dining plan, and removing tickets.

Thanks guys! I knew the boards would be able to tell me if it was feasible! I didn't want to waste my time if it was going to be a hard no. Figure I'll call, be polite, and give it a shot.

Yes, exactly as PrincessArlena'sDad said - call and ask for a "Basic Package" which is the term used to convert a room/ticket and or dining package into a room-only without having to go through a cancel and re-book process.

Success! Took two calls because I got disconnected, and then the poor guest relations person apparently accidentally deleted the reservation entirely but was able to manually recreate it. Whew! Thanks again for the advice all! Should save me at least $150 to buy the tickets on my own!
