Ticket Upgrade Question

We have unused 1-day base MYW tickets that we got as part of a bounceback package in 2010 before they had separate 1-day tickets for MK and everything else. We plan to upgrade these tickets to 2-day tickets for our upcoming trip. I used to be very familiar with the upgrading rules and process, thanks mainly to the great information in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/threads/everything-about-wdw-tickets.1452684/. Since that thread has been updated, however, there have been many changes so I'm not sure how it will work. Here are my questions:

1. Can our unused 1-day MYW base ticket be used to get into MK if it was issued at a time before they had separate 1-day MK tickets? I assume yes, but I'd like to know for sure.

2. If we wait to upgrade until after using the ticket to enter the MK, will we still get credit for the current gate price of the ticket, rather than the price that we paid for it as part of the package in 2010?

3. If we get credit for the current gate price and we use it to get into MK, will we get credit for the gate price of a 1-day MK ticket or a 1-day ticket for the other parks?

4. If we only get credit for the amount we paid for it in 2010, how will they determine what that amount was if the tickets were park of a package rather than sold on their own?

Thanks very much for any information!

1. Yes.
2. Should be so. Package tickets are subject to "price-bridging" to the current ticket rate.
Also, you do not have to USE the ticket before doing the upgrade.
That info (long a staple of the Ticket Sticky) is erroneous.
(But, you CAN use the ticket before upgrading... just do the upgrade on the same day that you use this one-day ticket.)
3. You should get credit for what a one-day ticket currently costs.
Whether it is the price for an MK ticket or an other park ticket, I just don't know.
I'd settle for the cost of "half" of the price for a 2-day ticket. (But, what the CM will do is unknown.)
4. Package tickets are subject to "price-bridging" to the current ticket rate.

Thanks, Robo. So if I upgrade it at Guest Services before using it, I would still get credit for the current cost of a 1-day ticket? I don't have to use it at all in order to get the price-bridging?

Thanks, Robo.

1. If I upgrade prior to using the ticket, do you know how much credit I will get for it? If they will only credit me the amount paid for it in 2010 rather than the current 1-day price,

2. it might actually be cheaper and easier to buy another 1-day ticket rather than upgrading this one to a 2-day ticket. Another separate 1-day ticket would also allow me to get both days of FastPasses at the 60-day mark, so I'd prefer it if there's little or no extra expense.

1. No difference in "value" if you do or don't use the ticket first.
Ticket upgrade value is unaffected by use at the gates.
Figure on at least getting what a one-day "non-MK" ticket costs.
2. FP+ is a consideration.

Thanks again! I didn't see the end of your post before I responded, but then I saw it and edited. I really appreciate the helpful information!
